Join our dynamic team as a Machinist, where you will play a pivotal role in operating various machines and ensuring the precision of parts produced. This position offers flexibility in set-up requirements, allowing you to focus on operating mills and lathes, primarily using Mazaks, Mazatrol, and mill and lathe combination machines. You will also work with other machinery such as waterjets, horizontal grinders, omni lathes, and honing machines.
Responsibilities

<li>Operate machines and read blueprints to ensure accurate production.</li>
<li>Utilize measuring instruments to verify dimensions and quality.</li>
<li>Perform machine set-up for certain roles, including loading programs and parts, and ensuring machines are dialed in correctly.</li>
<li>Inspect first pieces and collaborate with team leads, techs, or quality control for approval.</li>
<li>Maintain performance metrics for run time and hourly output, receiving support and training as needed.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with team leads to address any issues.</li>
<li>Complete and set up multiple work orders daily, potentially handling up to 5-6 orders.</li>
<li>Monitor tool wear, replace tools, and adjust dimensions as needed to minimize scrap.</li>
<li>Operate machines using G&amp;M code and fanuc controls, primarily on 3-4 axis mills and lathes.</li>
<li>Maintain tolerances between +/- .2 and +/- .0005 while working with steel and aluminum.</li>

Essential Skills
<ul>
<li>2+ years of CNC experience and set-up expertise.</li>
<li>Proficiency in using standard measuring tools like micrometers, drop gauges, and indicators.</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and dimensions.</li>

<li>CMM experience is helpful but not required.</li>

Work Environment
Work in a clean and organized shop floor with 160 colleagues, within a facility hosting 200 employees in total. The position is primarily on the 1st shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with all training conducted during this shift. Some flexibility in shifts may be possible based on business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Powder Coating Application

<li>Operate powder coating equipment, including manual and automated guns, ovens, and spray booths.</li>

<li>Adjust equipment settings and gun techniques to ensure even coverage and desired film build.</li>
<li>Visually and physically inspect surfaces for proper coating coverage and cure.</li>

Surface Preparation

<li>Perform surface preparation tasks including cleaning, degreasing, masking, sanding, and blowing off with compressed air.</li>
<li>Work closely with the sandblast department to ensure items are properly blasted prior to coating.</li>
<li>Identify and report any surface defects, such as rust, pitting, or weld splatter, prior to coating.</li>

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

<li>Calibrate and maintain powder coating guns, booths, and ovens according to manufacturer specifications.</li>
<li>Monitor oven temperatures and dwell times to ensure proper curing.</li>
<li>Perform daily and weekly maintenance on equipment and keep logs as required.</li>

Quality Control

<li>Use mil thickness gauges to verify coating thickness according to specification sheets.</li>
<li>Conduct visual inspections to identify and correct defects such as orange peel, pinholes, runs, or poor adhesion.</li>
<li>Record batch numbers, color codes, and other traceability data on work orders or QC documents.</li>

Safety and Compliance

Summary 
Performs advanced mechanical breakdown and preventive maintenance that includes inspection, repair, and revision of CNC machinery/mechanisms and equipment to minimize downtime. Partners with management, engineering and vendors regarding new machinery/equipment selection, layout, and specification.
Requirements:

<li>Inspects, adjusts, and repairs machinery/mechanisms and equipment according to work assigned in an efficient manner to minimize operation downtime. Responsible for electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic work on equipment. </li>
<li>Minimizes downtime by effective use of resources including response time, technical expertise, tools, spare parts, and external contacts.</li>
<li>Facilitates installation of, makes alterations to, and rebuilds facility machinery and equipment.</li>
<li>Performs routine, preventative CNC machine maintenance; ensures PM program/schedule is followed.</li>
<li>Communicates with outside resources to diagnose/troubleshoot machine repairs, when necessary. </li>

<li>Troubleshoots and repairs various machine tool hydraulic and pneumatic systems including actuators, valves, pumps, and filters.</li>
<li>Troubleshoots and repairs machine tool mechanical systems including ball screws, linear rails, guideways, and gearboxes.</li>
<li>Collaborates with production and engineering teams to ensure the smooth integration and maintenance activities in the production schedule.</li>
<li>Recommends what parts to inventory in order to provide equipment reliability and timely repair.</li>

Required Skills and Experience:
<ul>
<li>Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or 2-year associate degree in technical related field.</li>
<li>Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Machine Maintenance Technician in a precision machining or contract manufacturing environment.</li>
<li>Strong working knowledge of CNC machinery, including controls, motors, and automation systems.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.</li>
<li>Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, diagram knowledge, and equipment and machinery service manuals. </li>
<li>Proficient reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension in English language. </li>
<li>Strong math and analytical skills are required to gather, analyze, and interpret data, technical specifications, and blueprints/drawings, ensure sound decision making, and find appropriate solutions.</li>
<li>Knowledge and working experience with MS Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook).</li>
<li>Strong electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic knowledge.</li>
<li>Ability to troubleshoot and repair a multitude of machinery and equipment and PLC and Fanuc controls.</li>
<li>Knowledge of TPM and PM elements and how to reduce repairs while optimizing equipment productivity.</li>
<li>Skilled with equipment and machinery troubleshooting testing equipment. </li>
<li>Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to identify and evaluate complex, ambiguous technical issues and provide well thought out solutions. </li>
