Manages day-to-day operations of crews on assigned electrical projects. Provides guidance and direction to crews in meeting the budgets and schedule dates on each project. Position: Virtual Electrical Designer/Drafter Step into a role where precision meets innovation. As an Electrical Designer/Drafter at Willmar Electric, you’ll help bring complex electrical concepts to life by producing detailed 3D models, coordinated drawings, and construction documents using BIM, Revit and VDC tools. In this role, you’ll be part of the Virtual Design Construction Department, working closely with both internal project teams and external customers. If you love digging into details, solving problems, and working with a team that’s collaborative and encouraging, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Do · Accurately and efficiently create, edit, and revise electrical models and drawings. · Prepare specifications for electrical contract drawings. · Maintain standardized drawing format. · Respond to drawing changes with addendums. · Layout electrical systems; prepare one-line diagrams, conduit and wire schedules, panel schedules, and lighting layouts. · Perform specialized electrical design computations and analysis. · Coordinate design work with Engineers and consultants. · Assemble documentation sets and produce drawing sets. · Plot drawings as directed by your supervisor. · Maintain necessary work documents and keep the Revit and AutoCAD library up to date. · Stay current with Revit, AutoCAD, and other design tools. · Scan and file as-built drawings from the field; input field information into CAD or Adobe forms for submittal. · Gather all required information for project O&amp;M manuals; organize and build both hard-copy and PDF versions. · Review “for construction” documents and integrate their information into electrical documents. · Build and maintain effective relationships with external customers (clients, vendors, and other trades) and represent Willmar Electric professionally at meetings. · Attend meetings and maintain communication with the VDC Manager. · Participate in regularly scheduled huddle meetings. · Adapt to changing priorities, including performing additional duties assigned by your supervisor
Position Requirements · Must know computer programs: Microsoft: Word, Excel, Outlook. · Ability to communicate effectively, to the standard of the supervisor – in written and verbal arenas. · 2-3 years experience with REVIT, BIM Modeling, AutoCAD and other design software. · Ability to work with a variety of printer/plotter hardware. · Ability to read all types of construction blueprints. · Strong presentation skills. · Detail Oriented.
Preferred Candidates Have · Knowledge and understanding of the construction industry. ·Knowledge and understanding of electrical systems. · Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Solid Works, MEP design, Procore and related software.

<li>Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.</li>
<li>Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.</li>
<li>Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assemble, and installs electrical conduit.</li>
<li>Pulls wiring through conduit.</li>
<li>Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.</li>
<li>Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.</li>
<li>Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.</li>
<li>Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.</li>
<li>Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.</li>
