 PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Maintenance Technician Level II is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and doing repairs within Grand Lodge. RESPONSIBILITIES:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Public Works Operations Manager and the direct supervision of the Fleet Manager, this position oversees all maintenance and repair operations for City vehicles and equipment. The role supervises and supports mechanics at all levels, provides hands-on assistance with services and repairs as needed, coordinates and maintains the shop schedule, and ensures high-quality, efficient completion of all work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
<ul>
<li>Manage day to day fleet operations including maintaining a shop schedule. This includes outsourced repairs, quality of work and turnaround times.</li>
<li>Supervise, support, direct, and develop a team of mechanics ensuring expectations are met.</li>
<li>Maintain records and work logs including parts used and time spent.</li>
<li>Review, diagnose, and make repairs on all mechanical aspects of equipment including gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, all braking and suspension systems, and various drive train components. This includes but is not limited to welding and fabrication.</li>
<li>Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics and assist all levels of mechanics when needed.</li>
<li>Train all levels of mechanics in more complex maintenance and repair items and use of tools and shop equipment.</li>
<li>Provide updates to supervisor daily and when issues arise that cause delays in scheduled repairs.</li>
<li>Order parts and supplies and keep inventory up to date.</li>
<li>Make emergency road calls and perform field repairs when needed.</li>
<li>Required on-call for snow removal and fleet rotation.</li>
<li>Assist with yearly budget and fleet replacement program, as requested.</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned including employee evaluations, invoice collection and review.</li>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

<li>Education High school diploma or G.E.D.</li>
<li>Experience 5 years of verifiable mechanic experience repairing a wide range of equipment from light to heavy duty this includes in depth diagnostics with aftertreatment systems and electric repairs. Solid waste and plow experience a plus. 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.</li>
<li>License and Certification
<ul>
<li>Valid Utah Class B Commercial Driver License or the ability to obtain within 6-month probationary period.</li>
<li>State inspection certifications or the ability to obtain within probationary period.</li>
<li>ASE Certifications preferred.</li>
