Job Summary
The Building Electrical Group is responsible for all building electrical systems including lighting, fire protection and low voltage for our design build, industrial projects. We design and build food and beverage production facilities. Our building electrical team is involved with designing the electrical systems, calculating power loads, determining, and selecting equipment sizes, and vetting and selecting suitable vendors, suppliers, and sub-contractors. The professional will have technical responsibility for scoping, performing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments. His/her specific responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Designing electrical systems for building power, i.e. normal, emergency, and standby power distribution systems for 208v, 480v, and medium voltage for industrial facilities. </li>
<li>Documenting all necessary calculations for the design such as short circuit, selective coordination, arc flash, generator sizing, steady state and transient voltage drops, load calculations, conductor sizing, raceway fills, etc. </li>
<li>Maintains project document organization </li>
<li>Manage time and meet commitments </li>
<li>Understands Ohms Law, AC/DC, Electric and magnetic fields </li>
<li>Understands power system theory – 3-phase vector math, power factor, symmetrical components </li>
<li>Understands capacitors, inductors, and resonance </li>
<li>Designing lighting for food processing spaces, including lighting calculations for emergency and inspection lighting level needs. Coordinating fixture placement/mounting with other trades. </li>
<li>Designing fire alarm systems per NFPA 72, 101, and local building code. </li>
<li>Code expertise – NEC, NFPA 72/101/, IBC </li>
<li>Specify means and methods </li>
<li>Specify other common work – grounding, start-up, LV &amp; MV Cables </li>
<li>Specify equipment </li>
<li>Designing low voltage systems such as LAN, phones, PA, Wi-Fi, access control, cameras, etc. </li>
<li>Create power plans </li>
<li>Create power one line and panel schedules </li>
<li>Define fire alarm requirements per IBC and NFPA 101 </li>
<li>Define Low Voltage Systems </li>
<li>Review scope with client – create and manage needs list </li>
<li>Producing bid documents consisting of layout drawings, one-line, riser, schedules, details, and specifications. </li>
<li>CAD – add 2D &amp; 3D devices to Xrefs </li>
<li>Procuring long lead light fixtures and power distribution equipment such as switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, MCC’s, generators, variable speed drives, and UPS’s. </li>
<li>Transformer configurations </li>
<li>Perform short circuit calculations identifying deficiencies or series ratings </li>
<li>Estimate weights of main tray/trapezes and equipment needing support </li>
<li>Assist in managing electrical bid process for clients, observing construction, and assisting with startup. </li>
<li>Project planning and feasibility studies. </li>
<li>Actively participating in and supporting department-wide standard development, updates, and maintenance. </li>
<li>Researching electrical building/power materials and best practices </li>
<li>Supporting talent growth within our organization</li>

Required Education Skills and Experience
<ul>
<li>Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field </li>
<li>4+ years of work experience in electrical systems for building power. </li>
<li>4+ years of work experience in designing lighting, fire alarm systems, and low voltage systems for building spaces, including lighting calculations, and coordinating fixture placement with trades. </li>
<li>4+ years of work experience in electrical bid documents and procuring electrical materials and equipment. </li>
<li>4+ years of work experience in AutoCAD, Revit or other related design programs. </li>
<li>Relevant work experience in a manufacturing or construction setting preferred. </li>
<li>PE tracked desirable. </li>
<li>Travel to customer project sites for fieldwork, review, audit, and meetings, estimated 25%.</li>

What You’ll Do
You’ll be part of the team that keeps automation projects moving. At ProAutomated, we don’t install systems, we partner with system integrators and manufacturers to ensure everything works flawlessly when it matters most.

<li>Support data center startups, performing on-site mechanical, electrical, and control checks.</li>
<li>Lead startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems in industries like food and beverage.</li>
<li>Partner with automation and controls engineers to test, troubleshoot, and validate their systems on-site.</li>
<li>Provide clear communication and updates to customers and project teams to keep progress smooth and accurate.</li>
<li>Typical travel rotations follow a days on &amp; off schedule: 5 on - 2 off, 10 on – 4 off, or 14 on – 7 off. Every project brings new challenges and new locations.</li>

<li>Work with various customers, getting invaluable real world experience with massive companies, but with the ProAutomated team supporting you.</li>

What We’re Looking For
<ul>
<li>A genuine love of travel, expect to be away from home on rotation (we’ll handle the logistics).</li>
<li>Preferred experience: have a working knowledge of electrical systems, programming, and communication networking skills.</li>
<li>Adaptability and grit, you thrive when plans change and challenges pop up.</li>
<li>Strong communication and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Must live within 50 miles of a major airport (relocation assistance available).</li>
<li>Personal vehicle within 45 days of employment (for local projects).</li>
<li>Authorized to work in the U.S.</li>
<li>A technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience (3+ years) in a related field such as electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering. &nbsp;</li>
</ul>
