<li>Makes appropriate decisions to involve others in the care of the patient, and effectively engages their involvement through case conferences, consultation and/or referrals.</li>
<li>Able to understand and incorporate psychiatric and psychological assessments and recommendations into the treatment plan of the patient.</li>
<li>Delivers individual, group or family therapy as prescribed by the treatment plan, continuously evaluating progress and revising the plan when indicated.</li>
<li>Recognizes when maximum benefits have been attained from treatment and enlists the patient in planning for discharge.</li>
<li>Ensures that treatment planning and discharge planning reflects the standards and boundaries of regulatory agencies and third party payers, including timely completion of prior authorizations.</li>
<li>Accurately documents all clinical activities and treatment provided within the medical record time parameters defined by Essentia Health.</li>
<li>Performs Essentia-wide duties as requested by the designated Essentia leader.</li>

PRACTICE SPECIFICS
<ul>
<li>Join a long-term, low turnover team of 5 Nephrologists</li>
<li>Full scope of Nephrology practice</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Clinical Nephrology, hypertension and post-transplant care</li>
<li>Hospital practice includes ICU and acute dialysis services as well as apheresis</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Dialysis population of around 300 patients with 2 units in Duluth (18 &amp; 22 stations) and 7 satellite locations (some have home dialysis); includes home hemodialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement, CAPD and CCPD</li>
<li>&nbsp;Physicians serve as Medical Director at the dialysis locations</li>
<li>Inpatient care at SMDC Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center, a combined 500 bed tertiary care hospital complex</li>
<li>Nephrology is a consultative service; hospitalists are the admitting service.&nbsp; </li>
<li>Team Members include RNs, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Practitioners</li>
<li>Essentia Health East market includes almost 1,000 physicians and advance practice clinicians with all medical and surgical specialties represented</li>
<li>Outreach consultative services at 10 regional clinic locations</li>
<li>EPIC electronic medicals records in clinic and hospital</li>

COMPENSATION
Daily Casual rate $2300.00. Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, quality incentives or production-based compensation.

Job DescriptionJob Description:This position supports the operations of the emergency room by providing coordination flow with radiology, laboratory, and patient transport. At the direction of a provider, enters verbal orders into Epic, scribes during a trauma, and supports the non-nursing functions in collaboration with nurses. Coordinates and documents into Epic all requests for Hospitalists through Stat Doc, and all other Specialty Physicians through Med Direct. Obtains pertinent information from other facilities at the request of the attending MD’s for further care of patients in the Emergency Department. Answers call lights and coordinates with nursing staff to meet the needs of the patient. Performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed. Monitors security cameras and responds to access request into the the emergency department.Education Qualifications:

Essentia Health – Duluth, Minnesota is seeking an experienced pathologist to join our team of 12 Pathologists within a physician-led, integrated health system. 

Work and live on the shores of Lake Superior. Our 12-Pathologist team works in a state-of-the-art laboratory at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center, which was newly built and opened in 2023. This 1.0 FTE position is ideal for a Certified Pathologist with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience, and who has interest in Surgical Pathology. Sub-specialty certification in Hematopathology is a plus. The role offers competitive salary and benefits and is located in a region with a significant service area providing a wide variety of clinical acuity.

PRACTICE SPECIFICS
<ul>
<li>Ideal candidate: Vibrant, hardworking, team player with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience; must be anatomic &amp; clinical pathology certified</li>
<li>Specialization: Broad interest in Surgical Pathology; Fellowship and board certification in Hematopathology a plus</li>
<li>Lab: Active clinical and anatomic pathology lab within St. Mary’s Medical Center – opened in July 2023</li>
<li>Practice: Expanding referral practice in MN, WI, ND and Upper MI; no autopsies</li>
<li>Team: Collegial group of 12 physicians with dedicated, supportive staff</li>
<li>Systems: Epic &amp; Epic Beaker</li>
