This position is responsible for assisting Alternatives For Crime (AFC) Scholarship Foundation, Incorporations President / Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in providing services for projects assigned. These projects consist of meeting project commitments inclusive of providing evidence-based Mentoring services to youth on probation 12 to 20 years of age from the District of Columbia Superior Courts. This position require providing educational enrichment, life-skills exposure, problem-solving techniques, and communication skills to influence educational, behavioral and the functional progress of Juvenile offenders on probation from the District of Columbia Superior Courts. This position requires constant communication with designated Probation officers assigned to youth. This position requires writing skills to complete monthly reports provided to AFC Scholarship Foundation President/CEO. 
 
MENTOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Encourage and support client by maintaining and encouraging a positive attitude about learning, improving self-esteem respecting the client, and involving him or her in decisions about the learning process, supporting the clients efforts and being prompt for all scheduled sessions.</li>

<li>Meet with CSSD, Probation Officers, and Court appearances when scheduled or required.</li>
<li>Provide reports to CSSD, Probation Officers and AFC Administrative Staff when required and or specified.</li>

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job DescriptionSalary: Teacher salary step level plus $5,000 stipend for carrying speech and ex ed 
We have a case load of 25 students with speech only IEP's. The cost to provide outside contracted speech therapies does not make sense for the school. We need a speech therapist with a special ed endorsement. The school is willing to help a speech therapist attain the special ed endorsement if there is a route achievable within this coming school year. This is at a classical model school.
