 Responsible to: Program Manager
General Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
Residential Advisors are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of mutual aid/self help skills among individuals. Staffs primary role is to provide the appropriate and effective behavioral supports tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. Residential Advisors are expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate comprehensive crisis management training, psychiatric, medical back up services and/or the crisis team involved with the individual.
Specific Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Integration: Incorporate health services, nutrition, social services, and parent involvement into planned activities.</li>
<li>Health Observations: Conduct regular health checks and report signs of abuse or neglect.</li>

Education and Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Child and Family Studies or Elementary Education plus one-year related work experience with preschool children; may consider associate degree (A.A.) in the same fields.</li>
<li>Successful completion of all required background checks, physical, and TB test.</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Bilingual Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Arabic is highly desired; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Whenever possible, speak the client’s language to the best of your ability.</li>
<li>Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.</li>
<li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.</li>
<li>Experience with Microsoft Office Suite in a Windows environment preferred.</li>
<li>Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families.</li>
<li>Willingness to actively participate in agency task forces and work groups to fulfill Head Start goals.</li>
<li>Desire to stay current in early childhood education strategies through ongoing professional development.</li>
<li>Flexibility to adjust work schedule to attend program functions and accommodate parents' schedules.</li>
<li>Must have reliable transportation to facilities throughout York County as regular and timely attendance is essential; may need to start workday at different agency sites without compensation for travel time.</li>
