Job Title: Project Manager – Structural Steel &amp; Fabrication
Location: Commerce, CA (Fully Onsite)
Type: Full-Time
About the Role:
 A well-established structural and miscellaneous steel contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our in-house team in Commerce, CA. This position will oversee the planning and execution of steel fabrication and erection projects from start to finish. You'll coordinate with cross-functional teams including detailing, engineering, shop, and field crews. This is a fully onsite role with occasional job site walks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Manage structural steel projects from contract award through completion</li>
<li>Coordinate with detailers, engineers, fabricators, and field crews to maintain schedules and quality standards</li>
<li>Interpret structural drawings, connection details, and shop drawings</li>
<li>Track submittals, change orders, RFI responses, material procurement, and delivery timelines</li>
<li>Liaise with general contractors, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders</li>
<li>Maintain project documentation and regularly report progress to leadership</li>
<li>Conduct occasional site walks and inspections to ensure safety and compliance</li>
<li>Ensure projects adhere to AISC standards and specifications</li>
</ul>
Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Minimum 5 years of project management experience in structural and miscellaneous steel</li>
<li>Direct experience with steel fabrication and erection</li>
<li>AISC Certification required – strong understanding of AISC quality, safety, and procedural standards</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans, specifications, and shop drawings</li>
<li>Proficiency in MS Office and scheduling or construction management software</li>
<li>Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership skills</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple active projects</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred (not required)</li>
