Development and Communications Coordinator

FULL-TIME | HYBRID | $45,000-$55,000 ANNUALLY



Agency Summary. Northside Youth and Senior Service Center is a 50 year old social service agency located in the Ville neighborhood of North St. Louis City. Serving over 1500 individuals annually, Northside is one of the largest providers of the Meals on Wheels program in St. Louis City, while also offering seniors and individuals who are disabled access to congregate dining, transportation assistance, and cultural and educational field trips. We also provide out-of-school time programming for youth and families at Peabody Elementary School and at our Teen Drop In Center.



Position Summary. Northside Youth and Senior Service Center is seeking an organized, detail-oriented professional to manage donor records and gift administration, coordinate agency communications, and support annual giving, donor stewardship, events, and volunteer engagement. The position reports to the Director of Development, and does not supervise staff.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Development Operations and Gift Administration

  • Manage day-to-day administration of the donor database (Bloomerang).
  • Enter and code gifts promptly; maintain accurate donor records, gift histories, mailing lists, and contact information.
  • Prepare acknowledgement letters, tax receipts, reports, and other donor correspondence.
  • Assist with gift reconciliation and maintain complete supporting records.
  • Protect confidential donor, financial, volunteer, and organizational information.

Communications

  • Coordinate the quarterly e-newsletter, including content planning, writing, editing, design, and distribution.
  • Maintain a social media content calendar and publish approved content.
  • Write donor updates, program stories, event promotions, and organizational announcements.
  • Gather photographs and program information and create basic graphics in Canva or similar platforms.

Annual Giving and Donor Stewardship

  • Support annual appeals, giving campaigns, donor recognition, and stewardship activities.
  • Prepare materials for donor meetings, tours, presentations, and outreach.
  • Track campaign responses and donor engagement in Bloomerang.
  • Assist with the annual fundraising calendar and coordinate the internal United Way employee giving campaign.

Events

  • Support fundraising, donor cultivation, and community events, including invitations, registration, materials, logistics, and follow-up.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Coordinate Northside’s participation in the United Way Volunteer Center and assist departments with volunteer postings, inquiries, records, and basic scheduling.



NORTH SIDE YOUTH AND SENIOR SERVICE CENTER QUALIFICATIONS



Required

  • Two or more years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated accuracy in data entry, recordkeeping, or database administration.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage recurring responsibilities and multiple deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or comparable office software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while handling confidential information with sound judgment.
  • Commitment to Northside’s mission and the communities it serves.

Preferred

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
  • One or more years experience with Bloomerang or another donor database, gift processing, annual giving, or donor stewardship as the day-to-day administrator.
  • One or more years experience producing newsletters, social media content, or basic graphic designs.
  • Familiarity with Canva or a comparable design platform.
  • Nonprofit, fundraising, communications, event, or volunteer experience.


EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

Schedule and Work Arrangement

• Full-time, hybrid, Monday through Friday.

• Onsite and remote schedules are based on organizational needs and established with the Director of Development. This is a FT, 40 hr/week position.

• Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Compensatory scheduling is ropvided for approved work outside the regular schedule.


Compensation and Benefits

$45,000-$55,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
