Castor Materials Inc., a growing, family-owned and operated concrete manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team immediately.

We operate our own fleet of concrete mixer trucks, tri-axles, and heavy equipment, and we're looking for a dependable, experienced mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and on the road.

You'll work out of our Mechanic Shop in Southwest Philadelphia, near the airport and Passyunk Avenue Bridge.


What You'll Work On

Our fleet includes:

  • Concrete mixer trucks
  • Tri-axle trucks
  • Heavy equipment
  • Commercial diesel vehicles
  • CAT C10 engines
  • Conveyors
  • Crushers
  • Cummins M11 engines
  • Detroit Series 60 engines

Much of the position consists of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and routine/minor repairs. Experience with diesel engine diagnostics and engine repair is a strong plus.


Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine service on diesel trucks and heavy equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and complete necessary repairs
  • Inspect trucks and equipment for safety and mechanical issues
  • Perform brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, and other mechanical repairs as needed
  • Troubleshoot diesel engine and drivetrain issues
  • Perform road service calls for trucks and equipment breakdowns, including on-site troubleshooting and repairs
  • Respond to equipment issues efficiently to help minimize downtime and get equipment back in operation
  • Maintain accurate and organized service and repair records
  • Help minimize equipment downtime through preventative maintenance
  • Keep the shop and work areas clean, safe, and organized
  • Work closely with our operations team to prioritize repairs and maintenance


Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of diesel/mechanical experience required
  • Experience working on commercial trucks and/or heavy equipment
  • Experience with concrete mixers and tri-axles is strongly preferred
  • Diesel engine experience is a plus
  • Must have your own mechanic tools
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be comfortable performing road service and field repairs when equipment breaks down
  • Must be able to reliably report to our Southwest Philadelphia location
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
