The Assistant Dean for Career Planning and Professional Development provides leadership, management, and direct student and alumni services in the area of career services. This position oversees efforts to support JD students and alumni in obtaining employment, which is a high priority for the law school. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing personnel; developing and managing a departmental budget; managing public relations/marketing/outreach to students, employers, and alumni; generating and providing reports on topics such as employment statistics and service usage; and providing strategic, comprehensive programming and direct services to law students and alumni to assist with their career planning and professional development.&nbsp; Service to law students and alumni includes, among others, the following activities: • Providing guidance and counseling for students and alumni. • Providing document review of job application materials for students and alumni. • Serving as instructor of record in required, credit-bearing, first-year Career Exploration course &amp; Professional Planning course. • Administering a variety of workshops and programs. • Providing library and web-based resources, including online job listings and newsletters for students. • Administering mentoring programs that match students with professionals. • Administering interview programs. • Administering alumni/student receptions in major cities in and outside of Oregon as appropriate. The Assistant Dean is a participating member of the law school’s administrative team and will be expected to plan, develop, and implement law school projects, policies, and procedures. The person in this position will be expected to participate in the business and activities of the Oregon State Bar and various professional organizations. The University of Rochester seeks an experienced, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Associate Vice President for Human Subject Protection (AVP-HSP).&nbsp; Reporting to the University’s Vice President for Research, the Associate Vice President is responsible for the staff, resources, systems, and policies that enable research involving human subjects, sustaining safety and compliance while advancing knowledge.
Key functions of the Office of Human Subject Projection (OHSP) under the AVP-HSP’s responsibility include <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/rsrb/index.html" target="_blank">Research Subject Review Board</a> (RSRB), <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/education/index.html" target="_blank">Research Education and Training</a>, and <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/quality/index.html" target="_blank">Research Quality Improvement</a>. At any given time, there are more than 2,000 active research studies being conducted by approximately 3,000 investigators, across more than 100 departments, centers, and labs at the University and University of Rochester Medical Center. The AVP-HSP must be forward-thinking and proactive in considering the impact that evolving regulations and external factors may have on University-wide research plans, programs, and operations. They are the University leader in human subject-research risk-assessment and risk-mitigation discussions.
As OHSP is a University-wide resource, the AVP-HSP collaborates with research deans across the University as well as the Office of Research and Project Administration, the Office for Clinical Research, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the Office of General Counsel. Alongside research deans from each school and key members of the Office of the Vice President for Research, the AVP-HSP is a member of the University’s Research Executive Committee. Rochester’s human-subject protection program has been AAHRPP-accredited since 2004.
The AVP-HSP must be a highly visible member of the University community and continuously engaged with University stakeholders, communicating and demonstrating OHSP’s commitment to being a collaborative partner with departments and divisions across the institution. The AVP-HSP ensures that the 14-member OHSP team is likewise knowledgeable, skilled, trained, and engaged in serving the good of the broader University community in thoughtful, thorough, and objective engagements.
The AVP will have well-developed and tested leadership and collaboration qualities, extensive research compliance expertise, and experience working with clinical, translational, and behavioral researchers. They will have the highest level of integrity and will demonstrate a track record of developing, mentoring, and supporting diverse and high-functioning teams.
Viable candidates will have at least 10 years of directly relevant experience, including in positions in which they had supervisory responsibility. If they are not coming from a peer academic or medical institution, they will demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and will have relevant research leadership experience with large, matrixed, and highly complicated organizations. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in a field that entails working with human subjects and Certified IRB Professional designation are preferred.

Associate Vice President for Human Subjects Protection

Description The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking one (1) full-time pathologist for appointment to join our Hematopathology Division on the School of Medicine’s clinician-teacher pathway. The qualified candidate will become the Division Head of Hematopathology, CAP/CLIA director of the Hematopathology Laboratory and Quality Director of the Clinical Trials/Developmental Hematopathology subdivision. Clinical responsibilities will include reporting of morphology for lymph nodes, tissues, bloods and marrows, as well as flow cytometry (diagnostic and minimal residual disease testing) and may include molecular diagnostic testing, hemoglobin electrophoresis and coagulation reporting, depending on the interests of the candidate. Educational activities include teaching hematology / hematopathology to students, technologists, residents and fellows. &nbsp;Applicants are expected to be involved in administrative aspects of the lab, including new test development, and develop an area of focused research / scholarly work.
This appointment may be at the rank of Associate or full Professor, without tenure due to reasons of funding. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank.
The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors: $21,903 to $30,049 per month ($262,831 to $360,592 annually); Professors: $26,023 to $39,377 per month ($312,274 to $472,526 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. State Specialist Disaster Health and Wellness Chief

The Chief of Endocrinology will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the&nbsp;Division. The Division Chief will be responsible for all planning, policy, operations, and&nbsp;oversight of academic, research, and clinical programs of the Division. The Chief of Endocrinology&nbsp;will have financial authority over the division&nbsp; budget, including extramural research and&nbsp;philanthropic funding received and other financial matters for the division, in accordance with&nbsp;applicable University policies and practices.
