GENERAL SUMMARY
 
The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/work with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

<li>The Medical Assistant will perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor.</li>
<li>The Medical Assistant will consistently confer with physicians, nursing, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule appointments of patients.</li>
<li>Greets and prepare patients.</li>
<li>Measures and records vital signs.</li>
<li>Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint.</li>
<li>Provides patient education with regards to medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets.</li>

<li>Assists physicians with exams.</li>
<li>Performs phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens. Performs basic lab tests.</li>
<li>Performs EKG’s.</li>

<li>Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.</li>
<li>Change dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures.</li>
<li>Uses CPR skills when necessary.</li>
<li>Prepares accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.</li>
<li>Opens office in the morning and closes in the afternoon.</li>
<li>Assist in maintaining patient logs for the following: Lab requests, CT scans and other treatment orders for the patients.</li>
<li>Maintains prescription ledger when needed.</li>
<li>Ensures the back office has good flow, keeps rooms full and assists with room turnover.</li>
<li>Performs new patient thorough work-up (x-rays, vitals, new patient packet explanation).</li>
<li>Adds medical history on all new patients and updates all established patients’ history in accurately.</li>
<li>Performs accurate and complete room set-up for physician.</li>
<li>Ensures that all patients medication is updated before physician visit.</li>
<li>Handles set-up for in office surgical procedures.</li>
<li>Ensures appropriate consent form is completed correctly avoiding the use of too many medical abbreviations within the consent forms.</li>
<li>Scribe as assigned per physician office flow.</li>
<li>Prepares for seeing patients the following day, including patient confirmation for next day visit.</li>
<li>Completes patient medical record requests when necessary.</li>
<li>Assists in the orientation and training of new personnel.</li>
<li>Ensures proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed.</li>
<li>Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly. Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts.</li>

Summary
Community Clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant or CAN for our Fayetteville Medical Center location. CNA or RMA certification if required. Spanish language ability required. This is a full-time M-F position with no nights or weekends required. Schedule is 7:30a – 4:30p Monday-Friday. Timeliness and consistency are essential to success in this position.
Key Responsibilities 
<ul>
<li>Maintains patient flow during clinic so as to assure prompt service for patients.</li>
<li>Obtains vital signs, measurements and laboratory tests accurately, as per protocol.</li>
<li>Obtains chief complaint and reason for visit using excellent listening skills.</li>
<li>Maintains exam room supplies and cleanliness for optimal efficiency.</li>
<li>Assists as requested by provider in procedures and examinations within guidelines of certification and/or training.</li>
<li>Translates written and verbal communication between patient and providers, nurses or ancillary staff, as requested by either the patient or staff and as skills allow. </li>

Essential Qualifications

<li>High School diploma or equivalent required. </li>
<li>Bilingual English/Spanish required</li>
<li>Medical Assistant Certification OR CNA License required</li>
<li>6 months experience preferred</li>

Key Responsibilities

<li>Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, including follow-ups and referrals.</li>

<li>Assist with inventory management and clinical supply ordering.</li>

Position Requirements
Education &amp; Licensure:
<ul>
<li>Associate’s degree in the medical field or certification from an accredited medical assisting program.</li>
<li>Maintain current BLS/CPR certification.</li>
</ul>
Experience &amp; Skills:

<li>Preferred 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting.</li>
<li>Strong phlebotomy skills preferred.</li>
<li>Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.</li>
<li>Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.</li>
<li>Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to empathize with patients.</li>
