Job Summary
Primarily stainless-steel fabrication, straightening, and welding using gas and electric welding equipment. Fabrication of carbon-steel and exotic metals is anticipated. Employee is expected to have a level of technical proficiency equivalent to a subject-matter expert and capable of training less experienced fabricators and lead fabrication teams. Work is performed in accordance with a Nuclear Quality Assurance program.
 
Primary Job Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Welding using MIG, TIG, and Laser Welding technologies.</li>
<li>Fabrication by cutting, burning, straightening, and welding various metals.</li>
<li>Repair equipment by mechanical straightening and welding.</li>
<li>Identify and mitigate shrinkage and distortion associated with welding.</li>
<li>Intricate grinding and polishing of welds and Stainless-Steel base metal to 32RA surface finish </li>
<li>Plan and execute work based on technical documentation, drawings, procedures, and information contained within work orders.</li>
<li>Read, understand, and execute work to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and other pertinent welding documents.</li>
<li>Use calibrated precision measuring instruments, including a Faro Arm, to ensure fabrication tolerances are met.</li>
<li>Understand, organize, and perform record keeping tasks such as weld mapping on complex weldments to maintain traceability of materials.</li>
<li>Assist in the development and training of fabrication personnel on safe practices, advanced fabrication techniques, and the responsibilities identified above.</li>
<li>Design and build fabrication fixtures.</li>
<li>Prepare and/or assist with technical proposals and job estimates</li>
<li>Adhere to design specifications and related welding procedure specifications.</li>
<li>Participate in design reviews</li>
<li>Identify and initiate product/process improvements</li>
<li>Document work processes</li>
<li>Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly</li>
<li>Abide by company policies</li>
<li>In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required</li>

Requirements:

<li>Minimum of ten (10) years welding experience required or demonstrated equivalent experience through passing certification tests</li>
<li>May substitute two (2) years’ experience for Associate of Arts degree in Welding Technology</li>
<li>May substitute one (1) year experience for accredited trade or vocational welding certificate</li>
<li>Experience with MIG, TIG Welding, and Laser Welding</li>
<li>Fully proficient welding Stainless Steel</li>
<li>Must show demonstrated progressive experience, including AWS, ASME, ISO/EN, and /or API welder qualifications</li>
<li>Must demonstrate progressive experience working in multiple processes, positions, and materials through current or previously held certifications in at least 3 of the following processes: FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, PAW, SMAW or Brazing</li>
<li>Minimum requirements shall be in conformance with:</li>
<li>Test Position: up to and including 6G</li>
<li>Joint type: complete joint penetration weld qualifying for unlimited thickness</li>

Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery and equipment, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. While performing some job duties, there is a risk of electrical shock and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Job duties may require work in high, precarious places, work in outside weather conditions, and exposure to extreme temperatures in some cases. The noise level in the working environment is often loud. Because of this environment and associated risks, use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required.
