Summary:
Renders professional nursing care to residents and is accountable for demonstrating the ability to identify and utilize quality resident care. Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of residents and administers medications as prescribed by the resident’s physician.
Essential Duties:

<li>Distribute medications accurately and safely to residents within required time frame per physician order.</li>
<li>Participate and facilitate in resident care planning and shift records.</li>
<li>Provide treatments as necessary to residents within required time frame per physician order.</li>
<li>Maintain records reflecting resident conditions, medication and treatments. Timely and accurate documentation in resident charts. Complete nursing assessments as required. Including, but not limited to, following facility procedure to obtain the medication when it is not available for use.</li>

<li>Must have the ability to obtain Certification by the South Dakota Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy within 12 months of hire date.</li>
<li>Must be examined by a licensed physician who certifies, on forms prescribed by the commission, that the applicant is able to perform the duties of a law enforcement officer.</li>
<li>Must be interviewed in person. The interview shall include questions to determine the applicant’s general suitability for law enforcement service including appearance, personality, temperament, ability to communicate, and other characteristics reasonably necessary to the performance of the duties of a law enforcement officer.</li>
<li>Has not unlawfully used any prescribed drug, controlled substance, or marijuana within one year before the time of application for certification and pass a drug test.</li>
<li>Background check to include, but not limited to, previous/present employment, social media accounts, driving history, criminal history, personal references, and credit report.</li>
<li>Is eligible to reapply for certification, if the person has for any reason failed to successfully complete the basic law enforcement training program.</li>
<li>Has not had his/her certification revoked, voluntarily surrendered certification, had an application for certification refused, or been dismissed from the basic training program unless the commission, upon application, declares him/her eligible for employment or certification.</li>
<li>Has not become ineligible for employment or certification as a law enforcement officer in any other state, as a result of any proceedings involving any revocation, suspension, surrender of, or resignation or dismissal from certification, employment or training, unless the commission, upon application, declares the person eligible for employment or certification in South Dakota.</li>
