The Assistant Director for Teaching and Learning will work with MIT educators (faculty, teaching assistants, and other instructional staff) to support teaching and learning through the implementation of research-based practices and pedagogies via workshops, individual consultations, and classroom observations. Will develop and disseminate timely resources for MIT educators highlighting evidence-based classroom practices and findings from the learning sciences. Will design and lead workshops to meet articulated and perceived needs of the MIT teaching community, including workshops on teaching-related career development in collaboration with Career Advising and Professional Development. Will work closely with the associate director for graduate student teaching to serve as an instructor in and contribute to ongoing development of the TLL certificate programs for graduate students and postdocs. QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp;

<li>Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.</li>

This position plays a key role in institutional planning and strategy, in forging community partnerships, and in advancing SOU’s presence in the region, state, and nation. The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA has a significant duty in representing SOU to the Southern Oregon University Board of Trustees, engaging with the Oregon Provosts Council, and participating in the Oregon Council of Presidents. This person is responsible for articulating a vision and direction for Academic and Student Affairs and effectively communicating that vision to the campus community. The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA reports directly to the president and collaborates with the other vice presidents to execute the president's leadership agenda. The Provost &amp; VPAA/SA oversees all of the academic schools at SOU and the services that support them, as well as the university’s portfolio of student support and success services. The primary responsibility of the clinical teaching faculty is teaching in clinical/lab/simulation courses.&nbsp; The desired specialty area for the successful candidate includes expertise in pediatrics and/or medical-surgical areas. Candidates with expertise in more than one specialty area are highly desirable. Successful candidates are expected to teach lab/simulation/clinical as needed. Didactic courses are offered online, whereas simulation, lab, and clinical are in-person.&nbsp;
The teaching faculty will receive time off throughout the academic year as approved by the ABSN program chair during the 12-month contract.&nbsp; The teaching faculty is not evaluated with respect to scholarship yet is expected to engage in ongoing professional development appropriate to nursing and engage in service for the program, college, and institution.
