Carrillo Surgery Center has an immediate opening for a full-time surgical technician (scrub tech). The specialties include pain management, general orthopedics, and spine surgery. We are looking for applicants with previous ambulatory surgery center/OR experience to join our team. A surgical technician performs a variety of duties in the ambulatory surgery center under the direction of the physician, director of nursing/nursing staff, materials manager and supervisor.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
1. Stocks and orders supplies and equipment
2. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
3. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves
4. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure
5. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed
6. Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants
7. Helps in draping sterile field
8. Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure
9. Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure
10. Prepares sterile dressings
11. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization
12. Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of room and constant cleanliness of the center
13. Assists in prepping room for the next patient
14. Other duties as instructed by the physician, director of nursing/nursing staff, materials manager and supervisor
We are looking for an experienced scrub technician who has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and are constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field and cleanliness of the surgery center. Must have experience with spine. Applicants with CST certification or comparable certification are preferred. Must have current CPR certification card. May be expected to lift twenty-five pounds (or greater) without assistance. May be required to provide assistance in moving patients to and from gurneys, wheelchairs, etc.

We are interested in applicants with ambulatory surgery center/OR experience to join our team, as well as new graduates, who are fast learners and eager to learn. Applicant should be able to perform routine radiographic and fluoroscopic exams using fixed and portable imaging equipment, in accordance with established guidelines and protocols. Demonstrates and applies knowledge of principles of radiation safety. Prepares and positions patient for procedure by using established protocols to achieve the highest quality image. Applicant should also be able to practice independently and with others, providing the upmost patient care and utilizing critical thinking skills.
Position requires performing scrub tech duties when necessary, taking some shifts at our surgery center in Bakersfield, and performing routine radiographic exams on our clinic side.

This temporary role for up to 12 months is designed to prepare future peer staff for employment opportunities within MWC and the local behavioral health system of care. 
 
Responsibilities and Duties: Participate in formal peer certification and job-readiness training. Complete program training and orientation on MWC services and systems. Shadow designated program staff and practice skills learned in supervised service interactions. Assist in connecting with community agencies to enhance referral networks for MWC peer and family services. Provide direct support services based on internship placement duties, which may include, but not limited to, resource navigation, peer support, group support, facilitating classes, and outreach events. Learn and utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and data tracking to document intake and service data. Support the development and engagement of MWCs Employee Resource Groups. <li>Submit timecards and complete clinical notes for each session on time per company policy.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Supervisors and BCBAs.</li>
<li>Follow all ethical standards related to ABA service delivery and adhere to company policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Assist with new hire training by providing overlaps and shadowing opportunities.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications and Requirements:
<ul>
<li>Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
<ul>
<li>Preferred Education: Currently enrolled in college or has completed some college coursework.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Experience: Minimum of 6 months of work experience or exposure to individuals with disabilities (direct job experience preferred but not required).</li>
<li>Availability: At least 15 hours available during afternoons and evenings. Sessions typically occur between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm but may vary.</li>
<li>Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.</li>
<li>Transportation: Must have a valid drivers license and proof of auto insurance (compensation provided for travel time).</li>
<li>Requirements: Must successfully pass a criminal background check, TB tests, pre-employment Physical/Fit for Duty exam, and provide or obtain proof of immunity to MMR and Varicella as part of onboarding.</li>
