Essentia Health – Duluth, Minnesota is seeking an experienced pathologist to join our team of 12 Pathologists within a physician-led, integrated health system. 

Work and live on the shores of Lake Superior. Our 12-Pathologist team works in a state-of-the-art laboratory at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center, which was newly built and opened in 2023. This 1.0 FTE position is ideal for a Certified Pathologist with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience, and who has interest in Surgical Pathology. Sub-specialty certification in Hematopathology is a plus. The role offers competitive salary and benefits and is located in a region with a significant service area providing a wide variety of clinical acuity.

PRACTICE SPECIFICS

<li>Ideal candidate: Vibrant, hardworking, team player with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience; must be anatomic &amp; clinical pathology certified</li>
<li>Specialization: Broad interest in Surgical Pathology; Fellowship and board certification in Hematopathology a plus</li>

Qualifications

PRACTICE SPECIFICS
<ul>
<li>Work where other people play. </li>
<li>Cover orthopedic evening / night call from 4 PM to 7 AM at level 1 trauma center. </li>
<li>Approximately 180 weekday and weekend shifts / year. Flexible scheduling options to include: two weeks on / two weeks off, one week on/one week off, or other agreed upon coverage model.</li>
<li>Supported by four fellowship trained orthopedic trauma surgeons, with 7 days/week who have dedicated day and evening trauma rooms.</li>
<li>Supported by 14 subspecialty trained orthopedic surgeons in orthopedic oncology, hand, foot and ankle, shoulder, adult reconstruction and ortho pediatric surgery.</li>
<li>Call is supported by APP group who take call 24/7 and answer in-house calls and outside patient calls.</li>
<li>No Spine!&nbsp; Spine calls are covered by neurosurgery.</li>
<li>No office / clinic responsibility.</li>
<li>No hospital rounding required.</li>
<li>No requirement to respond to hospital codes.</li>
<li>Call can be taken from home.</li>
<li>Expectation to see orthopedic admissions and high energy trauma patients per discretion of general surgery trauma team who are in-house 24/7.</li>
<li>Hip fractures admitted by hospitalist team.</li>
<li>Anticipated case volume 0-2 cases / shift.</li>
