This position would be ideal for a seasoned, mature editor at a daily newspaper, magazine or online publication with significant deadline experience and a track record of working with writers to generate compelling stories and improve copy.
The Senior Editor, reporting to the UVA Today Managing Editor, will oversee several direct reports; edit copy for grammar, accuracy, and adherence to Associated Press and local style; and research and write stories as needed. The ideal candidate will be a sharp-eyed, detail-focused journalist who efficiently shepherds daily stories through the editing process while also taking the time to help writers improve their craft. Responsibilities:

<li>Edit daily stories for the University’s news outlets to ensure UVA Today’s writing is concise, compelling, and accurate.</li>

Description The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking one (1) full-time pathologist for appointment to join our Hematopathology Division on the School of Medicine’s clinician-teacher pathway. The qualified candidate will become the Division Head of Hematopathology, CAP/CLIA director of the Hematopathology Laboratory and Quality Director of the Clinical Trials/Developmental Hematopathology subdivision. Clinical responsibilities will include reporting of morphology for lymph nodes, tissues, bloods and marrows, as well as flow cytometry (diagnostic and minimal residual disease testing) and may include molecular diagnostic testing, hemoglobin electrophoresis and coagulation reporting, depending on the interests of the candidate. <li>Uses media relations software and tools regularly to assess news trends and increase UVA’s share of voice on key topics.</li>
<li>Monitors and analyzes key metrics to determine the reach and effectiveness of university media relations efforts and devises strategies for improvement.</li>
<li>Builds, manages, and maintains print, broadcast and digital media lists based on university priorities and areas of expertise.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Writes and distributes media advisories, press releases and story pitches, and manage media relations software and tools for pitching and placement.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Creates and supervises media opportunities, including press conferences, interviews, and media roundtables, to elevate University voices within timely news topics.</li>
<li>Plays a central role in advancing thought leadership efforts on behalf of senior University leaders, academic experts, and other key officials.</li>
<li>Supports University issues management and crisis response efforts as needed.&nbsp;</li>

<li>Senior Director of Media Relations candidates will be distinguished from Director of Media Relations candidates based upon advanced experience and management of complex media relations and PR assignments, including relevant professional experience providing program oversight and progressive contribution to strategic priorities.</li>

Anticipated Hiring Range:
