Position Summary
The Department of Religious Studies is hiring a tenure-streamAssistant Professor in the position of Contemporary Islam. Thespecific area of focus is open. We seek a scholar with preferredsubspecialties in any of the following: Islam and racial identity;Islam and gender/sexuality; Islam in the US; Islam and Migration;Transnational Islam; Islamic Thought; Qur'anic Hermeneutics; Islamand new technologies; Digital Islam; and Islam and non-profitleadership. Our preferred time frame is the 20th and 21stcenturies.
This position will be in the Department of Religious Studies (100%)in the College of Arts and Letters (CAL). It is a full-time,academic year (9 month) appointment, beginning August 16, 2024. Theduty period runs from August 16 through May 15 of each year. Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to engage in professionalactivities under the broad headings of Research, Teaching, andService.
