Join us as a Project Engineering Intern during the summer of 2026 in our Minneapolis, MN office!&nbsp;As a&nbsp;Project Engineering Intern, you will learn and contribute to multiple projects utilizing a variety of automation technologies and platforms. You will have&nbsp;the opportunity to gain experience and work on projects from the design and development phase to field installation and commissioning.
Essential duties and responsibilities will be completed in direct partnership with the Engineering Team.
To gain hands-on experience this intern will have the opportunity to travel to one or more of our plants and/or distribution centers in Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, and/or Iowa during the summer internship.&nbsp;
Project Engineering Intern responsibilities:

Qualifications

Job Summary: Provide technical support to Engineers in the form of drafting/CAD modeling, process support, fixture/prototype builds, and packaging documentation. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Provide CAD support to Engineering: update drawings/models, internal electronic documents, etc.</li>
<li>Learn and Execute offline programming support for Punch, Press Brake, Panel Bender and/or Laser; desirable</li>
<li>Update manufacturing documents including storyboards, work instructions, packaging instructions, etc.</li>
<li>Create/design basic fixtures &amp; jigs, tooling, prototype components, etc. as needed for manufacturing</li>
<li>Provide manufacturing process support via Machine/Tooling setup, WI creation/validation, data collection, 3D printed parts, etc</li>
<li>Actively work with Engineers and Production to define and carry-out improvements in work stations/processes.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and current documentation of tooling inventories and other department records.</li>
<li>Adhere to engineering standards, specifications, and practices. </li>
<li>Communicate effectively with employees and management to insure that all are informed as necessary to ensure that products are completed successfully.</li>
<li>Ability to develop and maintain rapport with employees to ensure that projects are completed as smoothly and effectively as possible.</li>
<li>Provide information and training to others as necessary to ensure that the most accurate information is available to other employees as needed.</li>
<li>Creates a climate in which plant personnel are motivated to develop their skills and abilities commensurate with customer and company goals.</li>
<li>Assemble job router packets as required.</li>
<li>Create sample/low volume parts/assemblies, as required</li>
<li>Participate in special projects and carry out other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
 
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: 
<ul>
<li>CAD experience, preferably in SolidWorks</li>
<li>Excellent blueprint reading ability (including Weld symbols &amp; GD&amp;T)</li>
<li>Analytical and problem-solving skills</li>
<li>Exposure to Lean manufacturing</li>
<li>Basic skills in using metal fabrication tools</li>
<li>Experience utilizing: Press Brakes, Panel Benders, CNCs, welding equipment, etc; preferred</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization</li>
<li>Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Power Point</li>
<li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.</li>

Education and Experience: 
<ul>
<li>High School diploma or GED equivalent</li>
<li>Associates degree (AAS) in Drafting, Manufacturing, or Engineering Technology from a two-year college or technical school and one-year related experience and/or training</li>
<li>Electro-mechanical experience a plus.</li>

Engineering Technician - 1st Shift

Job Description
Industrial Protection Devices is seeking motivated technicians with mechatronics skills to provide the highest quality inspections, maintenance, and training services to our clients with respect to the Company manufactured explosion suppression, isolation and venting technology. This position requires basic understanding of low voltage electromechanical industrial systems and circuits. Also, Performs final inspections on products that are applied in the field and gives occasional support to the manufacturing team when not traveling. Full intensive training is provided. Frequent travel (up to 75%) within USA, Canada and Mexico.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

<li>Perform required service including training of customer personnel.</li>

<li>Upon receipt of purchase order from customer, arrange service.</li>
<li>Travel to customer location – domestic or overseas.</li>
<li>Complete necessary forms as required by work instructions.</li>
<li>Complete billing worksheet and submit to the Field Service Manager.</li>
<li>File completed forms.</li>
<li>Provide assistance as required to the field service manager, production employees and customers on troubleshooting of equipment problems.</li>
<li>Responsible for performing final inspection on all products in the field.</li>
<li>Maintain checklists on final inspection criteria for all products inspected.</li>
<li>Perform final inspection, completing checklist.</li>
<li>Resolve all quality issues with production.</li>
<li>File checklist.</li>
<li>Provide any training required to production employees to eliminate quality issues discovered during the inspection.</li>
<li>Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory for field service components.</li>
<li>Responsible to ensure that all inventory items are properly accounted for or were billed to the customer.</li>
<li>Responsible for answering and responding to all after-hours emergency calls from customers.</li>
<li>Works with the production team to perform the final inspection of products.</li>
<li>Works with the Finance department on field service billing issues.</li>
<li>Provides assistance to production as requested.</li>
<li>Works with customers on scheduling inspection, maintenance and on resolving technical issues in liaison with engineering department.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:</li>

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

<li>Education: Trade School Certificate or associates’ degree (Technical).</li>
</ul>

<li>Experience: Two (2) plus years of experience in Field Service, of industrial products that include low voltage electrical circuits. Greater experience an advantage.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Language Skills: Fluent English (written and spoken).</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic understanding of low voltage electromechanical industrial systems, proficient in MS Office 365 software, especially MS Excel, excellent oral/written communication skills, well developed presentation skills, excellent customer relations skills, and the availability to travel (including to Mexico and Canada from time to time) at least 75% of the time.</li>
</ul>

<li>Mental/Physical/Visual Demands: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to lift up to fifty pounds (50lbs)/23 kilos (23kgs). Frequently needs to talk and hear. Occasionally climbs vertical heights (up to 200 feet), stands, walks and sits, as well as using hands to touch or feel, and arms to reach.</li>

<li>Working Conditions: customer industrial plant conditions (outdoor and indoor) and occasional general office. <li>Employees must submit a BATF clearance form at time of employment; acceptance by the BATF is a condition of employment.</li>

<li>Equipment/Tools Used: Must be proficient in the use of general mechanical and electrical (low voltage) tools. Must possess the ability to learn the IT software and hardware system and work with company enterprise software. Will use office equipment such as telephones, scanner/photocopier, projector, etc. Use of Mechanical Tools.</li>
</ul>

<li>Safety: Safe work performance is required from each employee at all times. Additionally, the proper discharge of safety responsibilities is an integral part of each employee’s performance appraisal. Customer specific training will be required along with drug and alcohol testing.</li>
