Job Description Summary POSITION OVERVIEW: The Floater position is mainly as a Teacher Aide. The sub position can be for Teachers or Aides, but is mainly an Aide position. The Teacher Aide assists the Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing learning environment, conducive to the development of all facets of the children’s growth (academic, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual). The Teacher Aide assists in preparing the classroom materials and helps to plan quality learning experiences for young children.Along with the teacher, she implements techniques that promote independence, curiosity, decision making, cooperation, persistence, creativity, and problem solving in young children. Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Duties are as stated below but not limited to: •Assist in ensuring the classroom is ready and safe to receive the children at the start of the day. •Assist in ensuring that at the end of each day your classroom is ready and safe for the next day. •Greet parents and children by name. •Make each child and parent feel welcome and appreciated. •Share information or concerns regarding children with your head teacher and Administration. •Allow your head teacher to provide daily communication with family members. •Assist in keeping accurate, organized records on each student regarding health, behavior, and development. •Inform your head teacher and Administration immediately of any concerns, especially report all signs of illness, injury, possible abuse, and unusual behavior as soon as possible. •Work collaboratively with your head teacher, Administration, family members, and other staff to achieve positive outcomes for children of all abilities. •Assist in ensuring a safe and secure environment in which children can be curious, active and encouraged toward self-discipline and self-motivation. •Guide children’s behavior in positive ways that support total growth and development and promote self-esteem. •Interact, initiate and encourage the children in the activities for the day. Never force a child to do any activity. •Be familiar with each child’s level of development and personal interest. •Use positive and appropriate discipline that is fair and consistent. •Document injuries as soon as possible using “Ouch Reports”.Follow the procedures stated in the employee handbook. •Ensure that confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times. •Maintain ratio as required by Department of Human Services (DHS) for the specific age group. •Ensure supervision by sight and sound of all children at all times, no child is to be left alone. •Assist with planning and preparing materials and supplies in advance for activities. •Ensure compliance with all pertinent State, Federal, USDA and school regulations. •Ensure that accurate meal counts and food portions are completed for all meals and snacks. •Learn and adhere to the requirements for NAEYC accreditation. •Ensure that accreditation standards are kept up to date. •Ensure surfaces are sanitized daily to minimize spread of germs following NAEYC recommended schedule for disinfecting and sanitizing. •Assist your head teacher in assessments twice a year prior to parent-teacher conferences. •Read and follow the guidelines in the Employee handbook.  Location and Type of Work This is an exempt position and will report to the Director of Student Support. As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support which requires this position to be fully on-site. This role is currently required to be on-site or in schools during regular work hours. Responsibilities
Evaluation Delivery: 40%
<ul>
<li>Provides core services including: prevention, consultation, intervention, and assessment.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Services include, but are not limited to, conducting observations, collecting data, reviewing student records, conferring with teachers and parents, interviewing students, planning behavior interventions, and conducting in-services and professional development. These core services are adapted to the particular needs of each student, situation, and setting.</li>
<li>Routinely gathers evidence of positive outcomes resulting from psychological services delivered to students, school personnel, and parents.</li>
<li>Fulfills mandates of federal and state law and the expectations of the DCPS Board of Education and school system leadership.</li>
<li>Receives and reviews available developmental information from school and outside resources about student behavior(s) and selects evidence-supported or evidence-based psychological interventions.</li>
<li>Accurately administers, scores, and interprets psychological measures of intelligence, personality, behavior, achievement, adaptive functioning, and developmental maturity.</li>
<li>Delivers crisis response and intervention services to students, families and staff, when needed.</li>
</ul>
Stakeholder Management: 30%
<ul>
<li>Demonstrates positive, collaborative problem-solving orientation with students, parents and guardians, educators, administrators, community members, and colleagues.</li>
<li>Helps all stakeholders understand child development and how it affects student performance academically and social/emotionally.</li>
<li>Serves in a consultative role with designated personnel to offer prevention and intervention strategies related to learning and behavioral problems of students; and provides consultation on an on-going basis to teachers, parents, and other school personnel to resolve students’ learning and behavioral problems.</li>
<li>Provides oversight to social workers and supports them in writing functional behavior assessments, developing behavior intervention plans, and tracking student responses to the behavior interventions.</li>
<li>Assists in identifying needed community resources for students and makes appropriate referrals to resources to facilitate educational and behavioral interventions recommended for student success.</li>
<li>Participates in hearings and due process proceedings, as needed.</li>
<li>Participates in disciplinary proceedings: expulsions, manifestations, and causation meetings.</li>
<li>Participates in IEP meetings to communicate the results of psychological assessments to members of the team in parent friendly language.</li>
</ul>
School and Community Support: 30%

<li>Demonstrates strong pedagogical content knowledge</li>
<li>Implements the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus</li>
<li>Exhibits positive rapport with students</li>

<li>Establishes and maintains strong communication lines with all parents</li>
<li>Available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences and other events involving parents outside of normal operating hours</li>

 Requirements &amp; Preferences
Required Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Master's Degree in School Psychology, Educational or Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution, to include forty-two (42) semester hours of graduate level coursework and five hundred (500) clock hours of satisfactory field experience in a PreK through 12 school setting under the supervision of a certified school psychologist. See DCMR 1659.1 for additional details regarding required graduate level coursework.</li>
<li>Certification as a School Psychologist by the District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).</li>
<li>Commitment to working with students with limited access to quality educational opportunities</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications:

<li>Experience working in an urban public school</li>
