Location: Domestic Violence Intake Centers, Community, Response Line, and some remote time also

SALARY IS $31.25 an hour
Work Hours: FULL-TIME Position (40 hours per week): Traditional and Non-traditional: hours include evenings, overnight, weekends, and on-call (2-week rotation). We are currently working in the office and remotely. This position is mostly remote; you will be required to come into the office occasionally.
Summary
Advocates offer direct services to victims of domestic violence on a 24/7 calendar and at various entry points, including but not limited to SAFE’s 24-hour 800 number, ride-along, on-call, in the DVICs, in Court, and at SAFE’s Crisis Shelter. Advocates primarily assist SAFE clients through direct services and programmatic duties.
SAFE advocates serve as a direct link to community resources to assist victims in maintaining their safety and fulfilling immediate social service needs through short-term case management. SAFE Advocates also provide systems advocacy by providing feedback to the court, the police, and other actors within the legal system regarding their impact on survivors. On-Call Supervisors must be able to meet survivors within one hour of request. This may be at any time during the 24 hours of the day.
Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Response Line Supervision:
<ul>
<li>Monitor the RL Activity Dashboard regularly for quality control and ensure that all services are being logged in the proper locations. Specifically ensure that all information regarding clients, including hotels, lock changes, and DCFNE exams are logged in the appropriate Google documents.</li>
<li>Step in when experiencing increased call volume to ensure timely services or cases are escalated beyond RL staff capacity.</li>
<li>Ensure proper materials about the Response Line are available for community partners and the general public, and keep the Response Line resources up to date.</li>
<li>Attend community meetings/training/events as necessary to promote Crisis Intervention Services services.</li>
<li>Network with members of the community and assist in recruiting volunteers.</li>
<li>Supervise the implementation of new resources and ensure that call takers are following established referral mechanisms and screening.</li>
</ul>
Supportive Advocacy Services:
<ul>
<li>Provide intake and supervision at the Domestic Violence Intake Center locations as scheduled.</li>
<li>Monitor Intake Center flow, assign cases, and provide feedback to SAT team as necessary for the smooth provision of services.</li>
<li>Step in when cases are escalated beyond SAT staff capacity.</li>

On-Call Duties:
<ul>
<li>During scheduled periods, remain available to provide in-person emergency services to survivors of domestic violence in the community, including completing Emergency Temporary Protection Orders, staffing the Response Line as needed, conducting shelter check-ins, and meeting with clients in person if an in-person hotline intake is needed at a public place such as a hospital or police station.</li>
<li>Provide support to volunteers and advocates staffing the Response Line by checking in via telephone and completing data entry of volunteer interactions on the Response Line as needed.</li>
<li>The independent authority to make decisions about service delivery based on policies provided in the field manual, with secondary support available when needed.</li>
<li>Ability to act as the programmatic authority during non-traditional business hours or as needed.</li>
</ul>
Other Duties:
<ul>
<li>Conduct outreach and education functions regarding DC SAFE Programming and domestic violence as needed, including attending Police Roll Calls and Police Ride Along.</li>
<li>Mandatory attendance to one staff meeting and one advocate meeting per month.</li>
<li>Support the supervision and training of staff, interns, and volunteers as needed.</li>
<li>Participate in training to enhance professional knowledge of domestic violence.</li>

<li>Process CVC applications and lock change invoices related to hotel placements and lock changes, as well as other emergency financial assistance offered to clients through the Crisis Response Team.</li>
