Founding Extended Learning Teacher Job Description
 
The Extended Learning Teacher is responsible for ensuring students are safe, learning, and excited about the program each day. In coordination with the Extended Learning Coordinator, the Extended Learning Teacher works to ensure students have an organized and robust afterschool program. The program will incorporate yoga, music, dance, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese languages, Robotics, and STEM. The Extended Learning Teacher will report directly to the Extended Learning Coordinator.
 
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

<li>Follow the daily schedule provided by the Extended Learning Coordinator and keep students engaged in fun, hands-on, learning activities</li>
<li>Ensure the Extended Learning Coordinator has attendance sheets to account for present and absent students</li>

The elementary school classroom lead teacher is one of the primary stakeholders who influence the lives of children at Global Citizens PCS. In early childhood, our children learn all content areas in the target language for approximately 90% of the school day, and they learn their early literacy and math skills in English for approximately 10% of the school day. Founding Chinese Lead Teacher (Kindergarten and Grade 1) Job Description
 
The elementary school classroom lead teacher is one of the primary stakeholders who influence the lives of children at Global Citizens PCS. Lead teachers will foster a student-centered learning environment that respects the culture and identity of each and every child so they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. In early childhood, our children learn all content areas in the target language for approximately 90% of the school day, and they learn their early literacy and math skills in English for approximately 10% of the school day. In elementary school (Kindergarten through 5th grade), we use a 50/50 model, where our children receive standards-based instruction (aligned to the Common Core State Standards) in reading, writing, math, and science in the target language for 50% of the time and in English for 50% of the time (each day). The lead language teacher will teach all content areas in the target language and will serve as the instructional lead and model for the target language, Mandarin Chinese. The lead Mandarin Chinese teacher will teach all content areas in Mandarin Chinese. <li>Effectively communicates verbal and written reports to the parents, and conducts parent/teacher conferences in accordance with Center guidelines.</li>
<li>Possesses working knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws and follows proper reporting procedures.</li>
<li>Handles discipline promptly and in accordance with the stated discipline policy. Documents and reports to the supervisor any special needs or problems of an individual child, staff or parent.</li>
<li>Monitors and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the child care and program area.</li>
<li>Maintains appropriate adult/child ratio.</li>
<li>Fills in other classrooms when needed.</li>
<li>Attends parent events/family programs.</li>
<li>Attends scheduled staff meetings, staff activities and ongoing trainings.</li>
<li>Attends in-service training events as required by Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) regulations, continued professional development through community involvement, reading and/or further education.</li>
<li>Remains familiar with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), or the National After School Association (NAA) accreditation requirements, and completes required documentation in accordance with Center requirements.</li>
<li>Conducts all required screenings and assessments within required time frame.</li>
<li>Maintains appropriate records for Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) program.</li>
<li>Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns, needed repairs, or incidents that may need follow-up.</li>
<li>Possesses the ability and appropriate safe driving record to drive a vehicle, safely transporting up to 14 children, and to travel between locations for work-related purposes as needed</li>
<li>Required to work summer months/Day Camp.</li>
<li>Protects confidential information regarding program participants, families and staff members.</li>

Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Must be at least 18 years of age and possess high school diploma or GED. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university required.</li>
<li>Must be able to obtain a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or equivalent as determined by the YMCA Childcare Branch.</li>
<li>CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen required within first 60 days of employment and kept current.</li>
<li>Two years experience working in early childhood field strongly preferred. </li>
<li>A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and completion of YMCA Driver Orientation are required only for employees who will perform driving responsibilities as part of their role. Candidates without a valid license may still be hired but will not be eligible to drive YMCA vehicles until requirements are met. Optional based on specific assignments.</li>
