The Department of Sociology at the University of Washington invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in the study of housing and/or homelessness. University of Michigan LSA Collegiate Fellowship Program

The Arnold School of Public Health (ASPH) and the College of Nursing (CON) at the University of South Carolina (USC) invite applications for six tenure-track faculty positions as part of the inaugural NIH-funded USC FIRST FIIRRE program. The multi-year NIH FIRST (Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation) initiative intends to enhance inclusive excellence at competitively determined institutions across the United States. In the context of USC's strategic plan, the FIRST FIIRRE (Faculty Initiative for Improved Recruitment, Retention, and Experience) team has developed a tailored strategy to achieve significant and sustainable institutional culture change by implementing institutional programs and practices that support inclusive excellence. As part of the FIRST FIIRRE cluster recruitment, USC seeks diverse candidates from all areas of public health and nursing who (1) have a research focus on health disparities or inequities within their respective discipline, (2) have a strong record of promoting diversity and inclusive excellence, and (3) have not previously held a tenure-track position.
Successful candidates will have a primary tenure track appointment in either ASPH or CON with the possibility of joint/secondary appointments to other units. Tenure Track Assistant Professor

The successful candidate will demonstrate a wide-ranging familiarity with Islamic textual traditions and be knowledgeable in the cultural history of Islam in the subcontinent. Applicants are expected to have expertise in at least one relevant South Asian language, such as Urdu, and a solid command of Arabic and/or Persian. They will have an active research agenda leading to publication in leading venues in their area of specialization, be able to teach undergraduate and graduate level classes in English, and to teach advanced reading classes in their language(s) of expertise. Assistant Professor in Islamicate South Asia

The Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University invites applications for a faculty position in “climate change and social science” to begin in July 2024. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The Director reports to the Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students and is responsible for supervising and providing guidance to the Assistant Director.
REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE:&nbsp; Minimum 3-5 years experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion required; 2 years experience on a college campus or other educational institutions, preferred. Demonstrated success in working with and advocating for students of underrepresented populations and similar success in engaging with majority students to help create a campus culture of inclusivity.
EDUCATION/LICENSING:&nbsp; Master’s degree required in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Education, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a related field. A combination of a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience will be considered.

Director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion

The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for the position of Associate Professor of African American and African Diasporic Literature with tenure, to begin August 2024. Applicants with research and teaching interests&nbsp;in any aspects of the production and consumption of African American and African Diasporic literary and popular culture with interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches are welcome. We seek an associate professor with a demonstrated record of excellence in scholarship and teaching related to the field of Africana Studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to and record of advocacy on behalf of the field, and who has leadership potential to assume the headship of the department within a couple of years. Preference will also be given to candidates who understand the historic and contemporary Black experience in America and the African Diaspora and are well-versed in critical race studies to provide intellectual and administrative leadership to our interdisciplinary program. Candidates should also have demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive excellence. A Ph.D. in African American Literature and African Diasporic Literature or a closely related field is required, and additional expertise in African American and African Diasporic literature, media, and/or visual culture is preferred. Preference is given to scholars whose scholarship focuses on the explorations of African American and African Diasporic literary and cultural practices, historic and contemporary social justice movements, racial (in)justice, structural inequality, and intersectionality through comparative and transnational lenses. The position is fully located in the Africana Studies Department, with the possibility of teaching courses cross-listed with the English Department and other campus units. Standard teaching load is 2:3.

The department currently has three faculty lines and six affiliate faculty. It enrolls approximately 40 undergraduate students among its undergraduate major and minor. Africana Studies is one of the nine participating departments and programs in the Language, Literacy and Culture Ph.D. program.
