Society for the Humanities Fellowships
The Society for the Humanities at Cornell University invites applications for residential fellowships from scholars and artists whose projects reflect on the 2024-25 theme of Silence. Up to six fellows will be appointed. The fellowships are held for one year (August through July). Each Society Fellow will receive $60,000.
Fellows include scholars and practitioners from other universities and members of the Cornell faculty released from regular duties. Fellows at the Society for the Humanities are “residential,” and will collaborate with one another and the Taylor Family Director of the Society for the Humanities, Paul Fleming, L. Sanford and Jo Mills Reis Professor of Humanities and professor of comparative literature and German studies. Fellows spend their time in research and writing during the residential fellowship, and are required to participate in a weekly Fellows Seminar workshopping each other’s projects and discussing readings based on the yearly theme.
The nature of this fellowship year is social and communal—fellows forge connections outside the classroom and the lecture hall by sharing meals following the weekly seminar and attending post-lecture receptions and other casual events throughout the year. Fellows live and work in Ithaca, NY, and are expected to be in their offices on campus frequently. All applicants for Society Fellowships should share in this commitment to creating a supportive and intellectually stimulating community.
Fellows teach one small seminar during their fellowship year appropriate for graduate students and advanced undergraduates. Though courses are designed to fit the focal theme, there are no additional restrictions on what or how the course should be taught. Fellows are encouraged to experiment with both the content and the method of their seminar particularly as it relates to their current research.
Qualifications
Fellows should be working on topics related to the 2024-25 focal theme of “Silence.” Their approach to the humanities should be broad enough to appeal to students and scholars in several humanistic disciplines. Applicants must have received the Ph.D. degree before January 1, 2023. The Society for the Humanities will not consider applications from scholars who received the Ph.D. after this date. Applicants must also have one or more years of teaching experience, which may include teaching as a graduate student. International scholars are welcome to apply, contingent upon visa eligibility.
Application Procedures

<li>A one-page abstract describing the research project the applicant would like to pursue during the term of the fellowship (up to 300 words).</li>
<li>A detailed statement of the research project (1,000 – 2,000 words). Applicants may also include a one-page bibliography of the most essential materials to the project.</li>
<li>A course proposal for a seminar related to the applicant’s research. Seminars meet 2.5 hours per week for one semester and enrollment is limited to a combined audience of advanced undergraduates and graduate students (capped at 15 students). The course proposal should consist of:

Qualifications
Candidates should possess an MFA in a studio art discipline by the time of appointment. Candidate should have university-level teaching experience with an emphasis on drawing from direct observation and the elements and principles essential to 2D design. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching drawing and 2D design classes within the foundations area of our department. The ability to work collaboratively with other foundations faculty to maintain the studios and in developing a consistent curriculum is essential. PHI’s Senior Workforce Intervention Specialist works to improve job quality for direct care workers by contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of PHI’s practice-based employment and training models. As a part of PHI’s Workforce Innovations Team (WIT), they will specialize in leading engagements related to operationalizing and evaluating meaningful advancement opportunities that expand the direct care career ladder; additionally, they may support programs aimed at strengthening recruitment and retention practices, creating a coaching culture, developing adult-learner centered training, and assessing direct care job quality. Outstanding skills in critical thinking, proactive leadership, written and verbal communication, relationship building, and workforce and organizational development are essential for success in this role. &nbsp;
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Lead the implementation of PHI practice-based job quality interventions, including creating and maintaining work plans and timelines, managing partner relationships, executing project activities, and reporting progress to PHI’s Vice President of Workforce Innovations through verbal and written communication.</li>
<li>Build and manage relationships with numerous strategic workforce partners – including long-term care employers, payors, advocates, and others - to support collaboration and the successful integration of job quality practices.</li>
<li>Provide technical assistance and consulting to project-based partners to support program design, implementation, and evaluation; this will include intensive, hands-on support to project partners to assess and modify organizational practices in support of implementing and maintaining workplace environments conducive to high-quality direct care jobs.</li>

<li>Produce high-quality project deliverables in line with PHI and WIT acceptance criteria including PowerPoint slide deck presentations, external and internal reports, project worksheets, assessment tools, workflows, and other items as needed to meet project goals.</li>
<li>Plan, facilitate, and document meetings, informational sessions, webinars and other interactions with external partners; this could include coordinating planning with WIT and other PHI staff members, sending meeting invitations and conferencing information to attendees, creating and disseminating agendas, facilitation, documenting and archiving associated notes, and establishing next steps.</li>

The University's new VCSA will partner with the Chancellor to shape the future for a strong and valued Student Affairs program. In support of the vision and mission of the University, the VCSA will lead a team to work effectively with students, both individually and by supporting student government, student organizations and clubs.
The successful candidate will be a talented and visionary individual who can work to develop innovative strategies in collaboration with academic and administrative departments to support and enhance student success. A master’s degree from an accredited institution is required, with a doctoral degree preferred. Also required is a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant and progressive senior-level administrative and leadership experience in higher education. The strongest candidates will also have demonstrated success in carrying out the responsibilities of a higher education administrator including personnel supervision, fiscal management, and external relations.
Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is a key leadership position responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight for all aspects of student affairs at the university. This role focuses on enhancing the overall student experience, fostering a supportive and inclusive campus community, and promoting student success and well-being. The VCSA provides leadership for a variety of student support departments. The Student Affairs division is responsible for the traditional auxiliary units of a college campus, including University Housing, Dining Services, University Center (containing the bookstore and a textbook rental program), and Campus Recreation. Areas of responsibility for the student development support departments include: Dean of Students Office; Health Service; Counseling Services; Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub; an Early Childhood Center (an accredited daycare facility for children ages 2-5); and Career Development Center.

Teaching responsibilities include Principles of Economics (combined Macro and Micro), Intermediate Macroeconomics, either History of Economic Thought or another upper-level Economics course, and core courses in Quantitative Literacy and Introductory Statistics. Visiting Lecturer in Economics

The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in international and global affairs.
