Job Overview:
Layton Services is seeking an Estimator to join our growing team in Newark, Ohio. The Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for civil and site development projects, supporting management and project teams in the bidding, planning, and execution phases. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills who thrives in a collaborative construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:

<li>Consult with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to discuss and formulate accurate project estimates.</li>
<li>Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding cost changes and adjustments.</li>
<li>Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.</li>
<li>Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project time, cost, materials, and labor requirements.</li>
<li>Develop estimates for selecting suppliers and subcontractors.</li>
<li>Provide value engineering and assist with change orders as needed.</li>
<li>Attend weekly project meetings and contribute to discussions regarding cost and schedule.</li>

<li>Observe all safety and shop rules. Immediately notify supervisor of any unsafe conditions. Wears, cleans and properly maintains all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Participates in personal air and noise sampling when directed.</li>

<li>Place inventory in its proper location, reporting any shortages or other inventory issues to the department supervisor.</li>
\n
<li>Each person is responsible for the quality of work and inspection, checking to insure that all product or pieces meet specifications and quantities without deviation and report any such deviations.</li>
\n
<li>Assists and/or trains new employees in job classification.</li>
\n
<li>Maintain required level of housekeeping and safe environment throughout work area(s), sweeps area(s), clears debris, arranges product, etc. on a daily basis to assure this. Immediately notifies supervisor of any unsafe conditions or work related injury. Perform 5S activities.</li>
\n
<li>Payrate $33.19 plus $0.85 shift differential</li>

\n QUALIFICATIONS: • Education 
<ul>
<li>High School diploma or equivalent</li>
</ul>
\n • Experience 
<ul>\n
<li>Documented successful completion of formal weld training involving the required weld process.</li>
\n
<li>The following qualification test is required to be passed to enter the classification:

<li>Process: GMAW Material: Steel</li>
</ul>

\n
<li>Competent in reading, interpreting drawings and capable of performing simple math calculations (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication).</li>
\n</ul>

<li>Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.</li>
