About the Role:
As a Building Material Estimator, your main responsibility will be to accurately estimate the quantity of materials needed for residential takeoffs and engineered wood designs. This position will be responsible for creating a detailed list of materials supplied by the Company and itemizing them based on the blueprints and specifications, and quantifying them by counting, calculating area, volume, or length. Ideal candidate will be able to produce accurate quantity takeoffs and/or EWP designs crucial for producing precise cost estimates.
Key Accountabilities:
· Review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand project requirements.
· Prepare accurate whole house quantity takeoffs and ensure quantity estimates align with the company’s stocking materials offered and preferred using preferred vendors.
· Prepare EWP design services to include joists, beams, hangers for our stocked material.
· Collaborate with sales team to obtain information to provide accurate takeoffs and/or EWP designs.
· Review and analyze bid documents to ensure compliance with client requirements and specifications.
· Maintain accurate records of correspondence and project estimates.
· Document and update estimating databases with relevant pricing information and project data.
Qualifications:
· 5+ years minimum of proficient experience in Residential estimating using construction estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Procore, Plangrid, Planswift).
· 3-5 years of EWP design experience preferred.
· Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
· Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
· This is an in-office position. NO REMOTE WORK AVAILABLE.

The Sr. Estimator will perform a variety of tasks critical to Iron Woman Mining Services’ projects, including:

<li>Cost Estimation: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for civil construction, earthworks (e.g., excavation, grading, embankment), and environmental reclamation projects.</li>
<li>Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment based on project plans and specifications.</li>
<li>Site Assessments: Conduct site visits to evaluate terrain, access, environmental conditions, and other factors impacting project costs.</li>
<li>Bid Preparation: Develop competitive bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs for labor, materials, and subcontractors.</li>
<li>Vendor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost accuracy and competitiveness.</li>
<li>Cost Analysis: Analyze historical project data and industry benchmarks to refine estimating accuracy.</li>
<li>Risk Management: Identify potential cost risks and propose mitigation strategies or contingencies.</li>
<li>Project Collaboration: Work closely with project teams to align estimates with project goals and schedules.</li>
<li>Database Maintenance: Update and maintain a cost database with current pricing, labor rates, and equipment costs.</li>
<li>Quality Control: Ensure estimates meet project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.</li>
<li>Software Utilization: Use B2W Estimate, the company’s primary estimating software, alongside tools like Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel for takeoffs and cost modeling.</li>
<li>Travel Support: Travel to project sites to gather critical data, verify site conditions, and support project planning.</li>
<li>Documentation: Maintain organized records of estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation for future reference.</li>
<li>Client Interaction: Assist in presenting cost estimates to clients or stakeholders during bidding or project planning phases.</li>

Required Skills and Qualifications

<li>A minimum of eight years of experience in construction cost estimation, with a focus on civil, earthworks, and environmental projects.</li>
<li>Proven experience as a senior estimator in civil construction or related industries, with a track record of accurate and competitive bids.</li>
<li>Proficiency in B2W Estimate, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).</li>
<li>Strong understanding of civil construction techniques, earthworks processes, environmental reclamation methods, and cost estimation practices.</li>
<li>Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.</li>
<li>Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse project teams and stakeholders.</li>

The typical work schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to accommodate site visits and project deadlines.

· Attend all necessary job walks and pre-bid meetings.
· Communicate with customers regarding specifications and expectations.
