About The Role

As our first NYC-based Product Engineer, you’re the bridge between research, product, and real-world use. You’ll take ambiguous problems, prototype quickly, and harden the right solutions for production—owning the stack from the interface to the data and APIs. You’ll work directly with users, measure what matters, and iterate until the workflow is both fast and trustworthy.

Success looks like this: you ship meaningful improvements weekly, raise reliability with instrumentation and tests, simplify complex flows, and leave the system cleaner than you found it. You set patterns the team adopts—on architecture, code quality, and product taste—and you’re comfortable operating from a problem statement, not a ticket queue.

What You’ll Do

• Turn rough ideas into working software in days, not weeks; take features from prototype to production.

• Design clean, scalable web UIs and wire them to well-structured APIs and data models.

• Build AI-infused product flows with guardrails and observability so they’re dependable at scale.

• Instrument everything (analytics, logs, alerts) and drive reliability, performance, and quality.

• Work across design, ops, and marketplace to ship outcomes, not just features.

• Talk to customers weekly; run lightweight experiments; double-down on what moves the needle.

• Improve the codebase: testing discipline, sensible abstractions, crisp documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping production web products end-to-end (frontend + backend).

• Expert in a modern front-end framework (Vue or React) plus Node and SQL; comfortable across the stack.

• Strong product sense: you sweat UX, edge cases, and time-to-value.

• Taste for clean architecture, testing, and operational excellence.

• Communicates clearly; thrives in ambiguity; moves independently.

Nice to Have

• Shipped LLM-powered features (prompt/versioning, retrieval, basic evals).

• GraphQL/Swagger, background jobs/queues, eventing, observability.

• Experience in marketplaces or other multi-sided products.

• Security/privacy-minded development in enterprise contexts.

Interview Process

After You Apply (include 1–2 Links To Shipped Work), Our Team Reviews Your Background. If It’s a Fit, You’ll Be Invited To a 15-minute Intro Call. If You Clear The Intro, You’ll Enter The Main Process, Which Consists Of Two Technical Interviews

• Coding interview (TypeScript): implement a small UI from a screenshot in Vue or React.

• Backend/API interview: design a simple data model and build a Node + SQL endpoint.

A brief founder conversation and references wrap up the process. We aim to complete everything in about a week.

Annual Salary Range (NYC)

$190,000 – $240,000 base USD (level-dependent)

Equity in addition to base; we’re open to a small performance bonus.
