Part-Time Accountant

Our client's Nashville office is passively seeking a strong part-time Accountant to provide professional accounting support, financial reporting oversight, and GAAP-based general ledger review. This role is well suited for a degreed accounting professional, experienced staff accountant, or senior accountant who is looking for meaningful part-time work with flexibility.

The Accountant will support the local office by owning or assisting with financial statement preparation and review, accrual-based accounting, accounting analysis, and project-related reporting. This person should be comfortable working independently, communicating with internal stakeholders, and applying sound judgment to accounting and financial reporting matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and related reporting packages.
• Support GAAP accrual-based general ledger accounting, including review of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account activity.
• Review financial results and help identify trends, variances, or unusual activity.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and project analytics as needed.
• Coordinate with centralized accounting resources when needed to resolve accounting or reporting questions.
• Provide accounting insight and support to local leadership.
• Assist with process improvement, documentation, and special projects.
• Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and strong attention to detail in all accounting matters.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Prior experience in professional accounting, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, or controllership support.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP-based financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently in a part-time, mostly remote environment.
• Strong Excel, analytical, and communication skills.
• Reliable, detail-oriented, professional, and able to exercise good judgment.
• Prior experience in a small office, professional services, financial services, or decentralized accounting environment would be helpful.
