Grand Valley Medical Specialists (GVMS) is a well-established, physician-owned private practice that has been proudly serving the Grand Rapids community since the 1930s. Our team includes 14 internal medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine physicians, along with 5 advanced practice providers, all working together to provide compassionate, high-quality care to our patients. As a locally rooted practice, we value teamwork, accountability, and the personal connections we build with our patients and each other.
We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist who is detail-oriented, dependable, and enjoys working independently. The ideal candidate will take ownership of their responsibilities, have strong organizational skills, and be committed to accuracy and follow-through. This role is well suited for someone who appreciates being trusted to manage their work while contributing to a collaborative and supportive practice environment.
Position Responsibilities
· Process, review, and accurately enter invoices for payment
· Verify invoices for proper documentation, approvals, and coding
· Prepare and process vendor payments in a timely manner
· Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies
· Maintain accurate and organized accounts payable records
· Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, payments, and account questions
· Monitor recurring expenses and service agreements
· Assist with month-end financial processes and reporting
· Support practice leadership with expense tracking and financial documentation
· Maintain confidentiality of financial and patient information
Qualifications
· Previous experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or office accounting preferred
· Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
· Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow through on tasks
· Professional communication skills and ability to work effectively with vendors and team members
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting software
Preferred Experience
· Experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting
· Familiarity with medical practice operations, vendors, and healthcare-related expenses
· Experience with electronic accounting or practice management systems
