Job Description

Job DescriptionLead Complex Low-Voltage Builds From Kickoff to Closeout

Imagine starting your day with a site walk to validate pathways for Cat 5/6 pulls, confirming camera placements with the customer, and checking that access control hardware aligns with the door schedule. By mid-morning, you’re coordinating subcontractors, clearing RFIs, and guiding technicians through a tricky fiber termination plan. After lunch, you fine-tune an estimate in Accubid, price a change order, and jump on a quick call to update the client on schedule and budget. By day’s end, you’ve removed roadblocks, documented progress, and set the team up for tomorrow’s milestones. That’s a typical day as our Structured Cabling & Security Systems Project Manager.

What You’ll Own

  • Full lifecycle delivery of low-voltage projects: data cabling, CCTV, card access, fiber optics, and fire alarm systems.
  • Scheduling, cost control, and subcontractor oversight to meet aggressive timelines without sacrificing quality.
  • Hands-on leadership for field technicians—coaching, goal-setting, and skills development.
  • Estimating and preconstruction planning using Accubid, including material takeoffs, labor plans, and pricing strategies.
  • Change management: proactive identification, pricing, and communication of scope shifts.
  • Customer communication that is responsive, transparent, and solutions-focused.

How You Lead

  • Model a service-first mindset—removing obstacles for electricians and technicians.
  • Direct daily priorities and provide clear, decisive guidance.
  • Coordinate subcontractor schedules and costs with customer and company needs.
  • Stay organized under pressure and navigate stressful moments positively.
  • Juggle multiple concurrent projects while keeping the details straight.
  • Grow your understanding of the National Electrical Code and apply it in the field.

Estimating Excellence

  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical specifications with precision.
  • Know the labor, materials, and methods needed to deliver reliable outcomes.
  • Use Accubid to develop accurate estimates and defend cost assumptions.
  • Forecast cost drivers and price impacts before they hit the job.
  • Build, price, and pursue well-documented change orders.

Customer Relationships That Last

  • Be accessible and responsive—own the communication loop.
  • Balance the customer’s perspective with project profitability.
  • Deliver a winning combination of schedule reliability, fair pricing, and top-tier quality.

Technical Grounding

  • Cat 5/6: Termination, testing, and best practices for structured cabling.
  • CCTV & Card Access: Wiring and installation for cameras, readers, strikes, power supplies; knowledge of camera types and cabling requirements.
  • Fiber Optics: Cable types, installation methods, terminations, splicing, and test procedures; ability to recommend the right solution even when needs are not fully defined.
  • Fire Alarm: Familiarity with IDC and SLC circuits; device installation and basic troubleshooting.

What You Bring

  • Track record managing low-voltage projects end-to-end.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; cool under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and drive multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Confidence making clear, timely decisions.
  • Customer service orientation with a builder’s mindset.
  • Proficiency in: customer service, electrical project estimating, Accubid, data cabling, fiber optics, fire alarm systems, leadership, and low-voltage project management.
