We are seeking a skilled and dependable Overhead Crane Technician to join our team and support the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of industrial overhead crane systems. This is a hands-on position for a safety-focused technician who takes pride in troubleshooting complex equipment, solving problems in the field, and keeping critical lifting systems operating safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience, understands crane safety standards, and is comfortable working independently at customer job sites. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, dismantle, assemble, and service overhead bridge cranes, gantry cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance inspections to identify equipment wear, defects, and potential safety concerns
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural crane system issues
  • Troubleshoot motors, controls, wiring, brakes, gearboxes, limit switches, and drive systems
  • Replace defective components and complete repairs to restore safe equipment operation
  • Perform load testing, inspections, calibrations, and safety checks in accordance with OSHA, ASME, CMAA, ANSI, and company requirements
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, manuals, and service documentation
  • Complete accurate service reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation
  • Communicate professionally with customers, engineers, safety personnel, and operations teams
  • Provide equipment guidance and operator training when needed
  • Stay current with crane technology, industry standards, and best maintenance practices

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working on overhead cranes, hoists, industrial equipment, or similar mechanical/electrical systems preferred
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and electrical diagnostic abilities
  • Experience working with 230/460V AC systems, motors, controls, and industrial electrical components
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical drive systems, brakes, gear reducers, and crane components
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and crane safety requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with customers and team members
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, trade school, or industry certifications preferred
  • OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Must be able to perform physical work in industrial environments
  • Ability to work at heights, on elevated platforms, and in confined areas
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle tools and equipment required for service work
  • Work may involve exposure to heavy machinery, noise, and active industrial facilities
  • Must provide basic hand tools
  • Travel to customer job sites and occasional weekend work may be required
