Acture Solutions is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support a confidential K-12 education client in Ossining, NY. This highly visible role is responsible for overseeing the District's enterprise data environment, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, security, and availability of critical information systems that support students, staff, and daily operations. Serving as the District's subject matter expert for data systems, you will administer multiple enterprise platforms, manage state reporting requirements, support district leadership with reporting and analytics, and drive continuous improvements in data management processes. The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-directed professional who thrives in a collaborative environment while taking ownership of the District's data infrastructure and long-term data strategy.
What You'll Do
• Oversee and manage all aspects of the District's enterprise database operations, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, availability, security, and reliability across core business and educational systems.
• Administer, maintain, and support the District's student information, assessment, transportation, finance, and special education data platforms.
• Manage data imports, exports, integrations, and data synchronization between multiple systems to maintain a single, reliable source of truth while minimizing manual data entry.
• Prepare, validate, and submit all required New York State and federal reporting accurately and on schedule.
• Design, develop, and maintain custom reports, dashboards, and data queries to support district leadership, administrators, instructional staff, and operational decision-making.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, system errors, data discrepancies, and integration failures while coordinating with software vendors when necessary.
• Monitor data quality by identifying inconsistencies, implementing validation procedures, and recommending process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, database procedures, workflows, and system configurations to ensure operational continuity and reduce single points of failure.
• Ensure all student and staff data is managed in compliance with FERPA, New York Education Law §2-d, and all applicable privacy and security regulations.
• Partner with District leadership and technology staff to identify opportunities for process automation, improved reporting, and enhanced data governance.
• Mentor and develop junior Technology Department staff by sharing knowledge, documenting procedures, and building long-term departmental capacity.
• Operate as the District's primary data systems administrator, proactively identifying issues, anticipating organizational needs, and driving continuous improvement with minimal day-to-day supervision.
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience administering enterprise databases and managing large, complex data environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience developing custom reports, dashboards, SQL queries, and data analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and security.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting K-12 school districts.
• Experience with eSchoolData Student Information System.
• Knowledge of New York State SIRS reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of NYSED data collections and NYSTP reporting.
• Experience with Google Workspace for Education.
• Experience creating dashboards, business intelligence reports, and data visualizations.
• Experience training end users on enterprise database systems and reporting tools.
