Rodent Exclusion Technician
Job Summary
Expert Exterminators Inc. is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Rodent Exclusion Technician to join our growing team. This hands-on position involves inspecting properties for rodent activity, sealing entry points, setting and monitoring traps, and helping customers protect their homes and businesses.
Previous rodent-control or construction experience is helpful but not required. Candidates with experience in carpentry, maintenance, roofing, or other hands-on trades are encouraged to apply. A valid pest control license is preferred but not required. We will provide training and licensing courses for the right candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect residential and commercial properties for rodent activity, nesting areas, and possible entry points
- Identify openings around foundations, rooflines, vents, plumbing lines, utility penetrations, and other structural areas
- Seal rodent entry points using wire mesh, sheet metal, sealants, hardware cloth, and other appropriate exclusion materials
- Set, inspect, and monitor rodent traps
- Perform scheduled follow-up visits to remove rodents and replace or reset traps
- Complete minor repairs using hand tools and power tools
- Work safely in attics, crawl spaces, on roofs, and from ladders
- Remove rodent droppings, nesting materials, and contaminated debris when required
- Apply disinfectant and deodorizing products to affected areas
- Take photographs and complete detailed service reports using a company-provided mobile system
- Clearly explain completed work and recommendations to customers
- Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, tools, and equipment
- Follow all company procedures and safety requirements
Qualifications
- Rodent-control, construction, maintenance, carpentry, roofing, or similar hands-on experience is preferred but not required
- A valid pest control license is preferred but not required
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Willingness to complete company-provided training and courses to obtain all required licenses and registrations
- Ability to follow instructions and complete clean, thorough, and high-quality work
- Basic smartphone and computer skills
Position Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Must be comfortable driving throughout San Jose and the surrounding Bay Area
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in confined spaces
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and in hot, dusty, or dirty environments
- Must be able to safely work in attics, crawl spaces, on ladders, and on roofs
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses, registrations, and training required for the position
