Position Summary
Under the Hamilton-Madison House/Two Bridges Youth Market Farm Stand initiative, which promotes healthy communities through access to and consumption of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables, Hamilton-Madison House is seeking a Substitute Farm Stand Manager.
The Substitute Farm Stand Manager will oversee the operation of the outdoor Farm Stand located at 50 Madison Street during staff absences. This is an on-call, as-needed position that will remain in effect through November 29, 2026.
The Substitute Farm Stand Manager will report directly to the Youth Development Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Business or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred
- A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required
- Knowledge/experience in fresh local produce display and sales at farmer markets
- Experience working with youth ages 14 and up preferred.
- Familiarity with NYS Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) coupons, EBT cards, and NYC Health Bucks
Responsibilities:
- Help train, supervise and evaluate all youth staff of the Hamilton-Madison House/Two Bridges Farm Stand in displaying and selling Norwich Meadows Farm Fresh Produce to the general public using the information and materials provided in Farm Stand Training activities.
- Oversee weekly set-up and operation of the Farm Stand including acceptance and recording of cash, FMNP coupons, EBT cards and issuance and acceptance of NYC Health Bucks (as a bonus for EBT card use)
- Place weekly orders every Friday morning from Norwich Meadows Farm based on previous week's Farm Stand sales (produce varieties and volumes)
- Pick up of ordered produce from Norwich Meadows Farm at the Sunday Greenmarket located at Tompkins Square Park using a rental van, and return or donation of unsold produce.
- Manage weekly recordkeeping, fiscal wrap-up and secure deposit of sales proceeds.
Compensation: $26 per hour
Work Schedule: On call Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for a total of 11 hours per week
