Location: Tampa, FL | Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire | Discipline: Electrical (MEP)
About the Role
We're seeking a licensed Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead the electrical design of complex healthcare facilities across the Tampa Bay region and beyond. This is a role for an engineer who wants ownership — you'll serve as Electrical Engineer of Record on hospitals, medical office buildings, ambulatory surgery centers, and outpatient facilities, guiding projects from schematic design through construction administration. You'll mentor junior staff, interface directly with clients and AHJs, and put your stamp on work that keeps critical care environments running.
What You'll Do
- Serve as Electrical Engineer of Record on healthcare projects, sealing construction documents and taking full technical ownership of your designs.
- Design power distribution, emergency/standby power systems, lighting, low-voltage, and fire alarm systems for healthcare occupancies.
- Perform and review load calculations, short circuit/coordination studies, and arc flash analyses.
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA 99, NFPA 101, FGI Guidelines, Florida Building Code, and AHCA requirements.
- Lead project teams, delegate to and mentor designers and junior engineers, and review their deliverables.
- Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, and structural disciplines, plus architects and owners.
- Manage project scope, budget, and schedule; interface with clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Conduct site visits, construction administration, submittal review, and RFI responses.
What You Bring
- PE license in Florida (or ability to obtain via reciprocity/comity within a defined window).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 7+ years of MEP consulting experience with a meaningful portfolio of healthcare projects.
- Deep working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 99, NFPA 101, and FGI Guidelines as applied to healthcare.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; experience with SKM, ETAP, or comparable power systems software.
- Experience with emergency power systems, essential electrical systems, and the branch requirements specific to healthcare occupancies.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of leading teams and managing client relationships.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AHCA plan review and Florida hospital projects.
- LEED accreditation or healthcare-specific credentials.
- Familiarity with lighting design tools (AGi32, Dialux).
- Prior EOR experience on acute-care facilities.
