Position Overview
The Business Analyst will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams supporting PHIG-related data, analytics, reporting, infrastructure, data governance, and operational initiatives.
The role will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, documenting, validating, and managing business and data requirements while coordinating with multiple stakeholders. The Business Analyst will also support PHIG grant deliverables, project timelines, reporting requirements, compliance documentation, sustainability objectives, and operational handoff.
Key Responsibilities
PHIG Program & Business Operations Support
- Support planning, implementation, monitoring, documentation, and continuous improvement of PHIG-related initiatives.
- Gather and document business needs, project scope, deliverables, dependencies, milestones, risks, assumptions, and success measures.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready project documentation, including requirements, work items, decisions, action items, status reports, risks, issues, changes, and supporting records.
- Support grant management materials, leadership updates, stakeholder communications, implementation monitoring, and performance reporting.
- Track project dependencies, risks, issues, timelines, data availability, reporting readiness, and grant deliverables.
- Support sustainability, usability, governance, and operational adoption of PHIG-funded data and analytics products.
Data Mapping & Data Governance
- Lead or support end-to-end data mapping for PHIG data assets from source systems through staging, curated, reporting, and analytics layers.
- Document business definitions, reference/code sets, business rules, transformation logic, reporting calculations, and data dependencies.
- Coordinate with data owners, data stewards, SMEs, analysts, engineers, and vendors to resolve data-definition issues and document decisions.
- Maintain metadata, business glossary entries, data lineage records, data dictionaries, mapping inventories, and data ownership/stewardship information.
- Support documentation and monitoring of data-quality rules, thresholds, exceptions, remediation activities, and resolution status.
- Develop governance scorecards and progress reports covering mapping completeness, lineage coverage, glossary completeness, data-definition issues, data-quality issues, and resolution timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Analytics, Programming, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of Business Analyst and/or Project Management experience.
- Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements and use cases.
- Experience participating in or facilitating requirements-gathering sessions.
- Experience with program/project documentation and compliance tracking.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Strong relationship management and communication skills.
- Ability to bridge communication between business stakeholders and technical/IT teams.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and time-management skills.
- Ability to identify root causes, manage issues, and make timely decisions.
- Ability to maintain organized, accurate, and timely project documentation and track deliverables/dependencies.
- Professional experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new tools and technologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with multiple and changing priorities.
Preferred / Highly Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Informatica platforms, particularly Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC).
- Experience with data lineage tools and methodologies.
- Experience with data mapping, lineage, metadata documentation, data dictionaries, and business glossaries.
- Understanding of the data analysis lifecycle and its application in a business environment.
- Experience supporting grant-funded, federally funded, or externally funded programs.
- Experience with grant deliverables, reporting requirements, implementation tracking, sustainability planning, and audit-ready documentation.
- Experience leading workshops, training sessions, or requirements sessions with user communities.
- Experience supporting public health, healthcare, rural health, health equity, healthcare access, community health, or health systems initiatives.
- Experience working with cross-agency, cross-sector, vendor-supported, or multi-stakeholder programs.
- Experience with data-quality rules, issue tracking, remediation, and governance reporting.
- Experience supporting business application implementation and adoption.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a strong Business Analysis + Data Governance background, with hands-on experience in requirements gathering, project documentation, stakeholder coordination, data mapping, metadata, data lineage, and business/technical communication. Experience in public health or grant-funded programs and familiarity with Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog will be highly valuable.
