Job Description
Fleet Maintenance Manager
Location: Dallas, TX
We have an immediate opening for an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee a busy 10-bay maintenance facility supporting a large fleet of diesel trucks, service vehicles and support equipment in Dallas.
We are ideally looking for someone who has come up through the shop — preferably a former Diesel Mechanic or Heavy-Duty Technician who has progressed into a Service Manager, Shop Manager or Fleet Manager position. This is primarily a management role, but we are looking for someone who understands the equipment, can effectively lead technicians and is comfortable getting involved on the shop floor when needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of a 10-bay fleet maintenance facility
- Lead, supervise and support a team of diesel technicians and maintenance personnel
- Direct and prioritize shop workload to keep fleet downtime to a minimum
- Develop, manage and maintain preventative maintenance schedules
- Ensure diesel trucks, service vehicles and support equipment are maintained in safe and reliable operating condition
- Coordinate repairs, inspections and scheduled maintenance
- Manage parts ordering, inventory and relationships with outside vendors
- Monitor maintenance and repair costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
- Work with senior management on long-term fleet strategy, equipment replacement and asset planning
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate fleet status to management
- Assist the team on the shop floor when required
Qualifications
- Previous experience managing a diesel, truck, heavy equipment or fleet maintenance operation
- Experience as a Fleet Manager, Service Manager, Shop Manager, Maintenance Manager or similar leadership position
- Strong preference for candidates who started their career as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy-Duty Technician or similar hands-on technical role
- Strong knowledge of diesel trucks, preventative maintenance and fleet repair operations
- Proven ability to lead and develop technicians while maintaining a collaborative shop environment
- Experience managing vendors, parts, repair costs and maintenance budgets
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable balancing immediate repair needs with preventative maintenance and long-term fleet planning
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fleet maintenance professional who enjoys leading a team while remaining connected to the day-to-day operation of the shop. We are looking for someone who can keep the fleet running, support the technicians and bring a proactive approach to maintenance, cost control and long-term asset management.
Salary range - $120,000 - $150,000/year plus benefits and matching 401k.
