Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and optimize industrial machinery and equipment. The role focuses on creating robust, manufacturable designs using CAD, ensuring compliance with ASME standards, and supporting production through prototyping, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bridge engineering and manufacturing to deliver safe, cost-effective, and high-performing machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed part and assembly designs using CAD tools (create models, drawings, BOMs).
- Apply ASME codes and industry standards to ensure designs meet safety and regulatory requirements.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and GD&T to validate component fit and function.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize designs for cost-effective production, assembly, and maintenance.
- Lead prototyping, testing, and product validation; analyze test data and implement design revisions.
- Provide technical support to shop floor, suppliers, and vendors during fabrication and assembly.
- Produce and maintain clear engineering documentation, drawings, and change notices.
- Participate in design reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementations.
- Support continuous improvement projects to increase reliability, reduce cost, and shorten lead times.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to cross-functional project teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in machinery manufacturing or industrial equipment design.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) for 3D modeling and detailed drawings.
- Strong knowledge of ASME standards and application to machine design and documentation.
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical engineering calculations.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal, fabrication) and DFM principles.
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and product validation methods.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
