The Diesel Truck Mechanic plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing heavy-duty diesel vehicles, including trucks used in waste management and sewer services. This position involves diagnosing engine and system issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring all repairs meet safety and quality standards. Working as part of a small team and reporting to the Fleet Manager or Supervisor, the mechanic contributes to fleet reliability while handling occasional travel assignments. There are clear opportunities for advancement within this role.
Responsibilities
- Perform engine diagnostics and identify mechanical issues
- Execute routine maintenance on diesel trucks and related equipment
- Repair brake and hydraulic systems with precision
- Conduct electrical system repairs and parts replacements
- Carry out safety inspections and maintain accurate service records
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding repairs and service status
- Maintain tools and adhere to workshop standards
- Leverage knowledge of CDK systems, heavy-duty trucks, sewer equipment, and garbage trucks
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in diesel truck maintenance and repair
- Technical diploma or certification in diesel technology
- Proficient in diesel engine repair, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems diagnosis
- Experience with preventative maintenance and welding
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools and managing time effectively
- Strong problem-solving abilities and physical stamina
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment
