Job Title: Facilities Technician
Job Description
This Facilities Technician role focuses on maintaining and repairing commercial and industrial buildings to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. You will perform hands-on maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, while supporting preventive maintenance programs and responding quickly to facility needs. This position is ideal for a skilled technician who enjoys varied work, problem-solving, and keeping critical infrastructure running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance across commercial and industrial facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Troubleshoot facility and equipment issues and complete corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, building components, and facility infrastructure to extend equipment life and reduce failures.
- Inspect facilities for safety hazards, signs of wear, and compliance with company standards, and address issues promptly.
- Support industrial equipment upkeep, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and other mechanical systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.
- Respond to work orders promptly, prioritize tasks effectively, and document all completed work accurately and thoroughly.
- Collaborate with external contractors for specialized repairs, installations, or projects, ensuring work meets quality and safety expectations.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory in a clean, organized, and ready-to-use condition for daily operations.
- Assist with facility upgrades, small projects, and equipment replacements, contributing to continuous improvement of the facilities.
- Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations, and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment at all times.
- Perform basic building repairs such as drywall patching, painting, and general facility upkeep as needed.
- Support cleaning and general facility care tasks related to maintenance activities to keep areas presentable and functional.
Essential Skills
- 2–5 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, or a related skilled trade.
- Hands-on experience with building maintenance tasks, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, including maintenance and repair, without requiring EPA certification.
- Working knowledge of basic electrical systems and components in commercial or industrial settings.
- Working knowledge of plumbing systems, including basic troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and system issues effectively.
- Experience working in commercial or industrial environments, preferably with exposure to industrial equipment and infrastructure.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting 50+ pounds, working at heights, and navigating industrial environments safely.
- Attention to detail with strong documentation and record-keeping skills for maintenance activities.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a maintenance technician or facilities technician in commercial or industrial properties.
- Background in facilities maintenance, including routine inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Experience with drywall repair, patching, and finishing for facility upkeep.
- Ability to perform painting and touch-up work to maintain building appearance.
- Familiarity with conveyors, motors, pumps, and other industrial mechanical systems.
- Experience coordinating with contractors for specialized repairs or installations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks.
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a facilities team.
- Solid communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, contractors, and facility users.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gettysburg, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
