Job DescriptionWe are looking for an accomplished Trial Attorney to join a respected litigation practice in Walnut Creek, California. This position focuses on defending complex medical malpractice and healthcare-related claims while guiding matters from early assessment through trial or resolution. The attorney in this role will work closely with healthcare clients, shape litigation strategy, and contribute meaningful leadership within a collaborative trial team.

Responsibilities:
• Direct a docket of sophisticated medical malpractice and healthcare litigation matters from initial evaluation through final outcome.
• Act as primary courtroom counsel in trials, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and other contested proceedings.
• Build effective litigation strategies by coordinating investigations, planning discovery, and working with expert witnesses.
• Prepare, review, and argue motions, pleadings, and written discovery with a strong focus on accuracy and persuasive advocacy.
• Take and defend depositions, appear before the court, and represent clients throughout each phase of the litigation process.
• Communicate case developments, exposure analysis, and strategic recommendations to clients and other key stakeholders on a regular basis.
• Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support professionals to drive organized, efficient, and cost-conscious case management.
• Strengthen client relationships by serving as a steady advisor to healthcare providers and organizations facing sensitive legal disputes.
• Support the broader success of the litigation group by mentoring entry-level team members and promoting high standards of legal service.• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction.
• At least 7 years of experience in medical malpractice defense, healthcare litigation, or similarly complex civil litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to handle matters through trial, arbitration, mediation, or other formal dispute resolution proceedings.
• Strong skills in legal research, motion practice, briefing, discovery, and deposition work.
• Proven courtroom advocacy abilities and sound judgment in managing high-exposure cases.
• Capacity to balance multiple deadlines while working independently and collaboratively.
• Experience guiding, mentoring, or supporting the development of attorneys and legal staff.
