Position Summary

The Banquet Captain leads the execution of assigned banquets and special events from setup

through breakdown. This position directs all event staff, coordinates service with the kitchen and

bar teams, and ensures each event runs smoothly, professionally, and according to event

specifications.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead and direct all assigned banquet and event staff.

● Review event details, timelines, menus, room setups, guest counts, and special

requests.

● Conduct pre-shift meetings and assign service stations, setup, side work, and

breakdown duties.

● Ensure event spaces are properly set, clean, organized, and guest-ready.

● Coordinate timing and service with culinary, bar, and management teams.

● Monitor service throughout the event and adjust staffing or assignments as needed.

● Maintain communication with the event host and respond promptly to guest needs or

concerns.

● Ensure dietary restrictions, allergies, VIP needs, and special requests are communicated

appropriately.

● Coach staff and ensure company service, appearance, sanitation, safety, and

alcohol-service standards are followed.

● Oversee event breakdown, cleanup, equipment return, and completion of closing duties.

Qualifications

● Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, hotel, or event-service experience preferred.

● Previous leadership, captain, lead server, or supervisory experience preferred.

● Strong communication, organization, hospitality, and problem-solving skills.

● Ability to lead a team and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.

● Must meet applicable food safety and alcohol-service requirements.

anticipate guest and operational needs, and ensure every event is executed with

professionalism, organization, and excellent hospitality
