Position Overview

The Mount Vernon Public Library seeks a professional Security Guard to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for visitors and staff. You will protect library property, monitor access points, and provide exceptional customer service to our community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol Premises: Conduct regular interior and exterior security patrols of the library grounds.
• Monitor Surveillance: Oversee security cameras and access points to identify potential risks.
• Assist Visitors: Serve as a helpful resource for employees and guests following library procedures.
• Prevent Loss: Report facility irregularities and calmly inform violators of policy rules.
• Incident Reporting: Write detailed logs of observations, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
• Facility Controls: Monitor and adjust building controls and equipment settings as needed.
• Legal Compliance: Maintain library stability and reputation by enforcing strict legal requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Complete ad hoc tasks to support the overall library team operations.

Requirements:

• Licensing: Valid, up-to-date New York State Security Guard License.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in security and 3 years in customer service.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent standard.
• Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Commute: Reliable transportation to Mount Vernon, NY.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
