Inventory Control Specialist
San Rafael, CA – Only candidates currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area will be considered
On-site | Full-time | Standard business hours with occasional flexibility as needed
Salary: $75,000–$85,000
Summary
We are seeking an Inventory Control Specialist responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring physical inventory aligns with the ERP system (NetSuite).
This role will help improve inventory accuracy, reduce discrepancies, strengthen processes, and support Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Finance teams through cycle counts, audits, reporting, and system improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and enjoys solving inventory challenges in a hands-on environment. Experience in a retail, manufacturing, warehouse, or supply chain environment is preferred.
What you will be doing
- Perform cycle counts and inventory audits for finished goods, raw materials, and warehouse locations
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain and update inventory records in NetSuite, including item data, BOMs, and transactions
- Monitor inventory movement across warehouse, 3PL, and co-manufacturing partners to ensure accuracy
- Track obsolete, expired, damaged, or rejected inventory and support disposition activities
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Accounting, and Sales teams to resolve inventory issues
- Support FIFO compliance, inventory aging reports, and inventory accuracy metrics
- Review inbound/outbound shipments to identify and correct inventory errors
- Train warehouse teams on inventory procedures, SOPs, and best practices
- Assist with month-end reporting, annual physical inventory counts, audits, and ERP/WMS process improvements
What you bring
- 3–5+ years of inventory control experience in manufacturing, warehouse, retail, or supply chain environments
- Strong experience with cycle counts, reconciliation, and inventory variance resolution
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred) and inventory processes
- Strong Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and inventory tracking
- Ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and drive process improvements
- Experience partnering with cross-functional teams including Warehouse, Operations, Quality, and Accounting
- Understanding of FIFO, inventory accuracy, shrink, and material movement principles
- Experience supporting SOP development and team training is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Spanish bilingual skills are a plus but not required
