Commercial Tire Technician

Location: Kolar Tire & Auto, 755 Shephard Way, Helena, MT 59601
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Kolar Tire & Auto is seeking a hardworking, dependable Commercial Tire Technician to join our growing team. This position begins with hands-on training in our commercial shop, where you'll learn the fundamentals of servicing commercial truck, agricultural (Ag), off-the-road (OTR), industrial, and construction equipment tires. As your skills and experience grow, you'll transition into performing mobile service calls, providing roadside tire service and on-site support for our commercial customers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learn commercial tire service procedures through on-the-job training in the shop.

  • Mount, dismount, repair, rotate, and balance commercial truck tires.

  • Service agricultural, OTR, industrial, construction, and heavy equipment tires.

  • Inspect tires, wheels, and equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns.

  • Safely operate tire-changing equipment and shop tools.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Accurately complete work orders and service documentation.

  • Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.

  • As training milestones are achieved, transition into operating a commercial service truck.

  • Perform roadside and on-site commercial tire service calls for fleet, agricultural, construction, and OTR customers.

  • Assist other departments as needed to support daily operations.

  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation once fully trained and qualified.

Qualifications

  • Previous commercial tire experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train motivated individuals with a strong work ethic.

  • Valid driver's license required (CDL is a plus but not required).

  • Ability to lift 75–100 pounds regularly.

  • Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.

  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy tires and equipment.

  • Standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and crawling throughout the workday.

  • Ability to safely operate tire service equipment and commercial service vehicles.

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
