Position Summary We are seeking an experienced District Manager to oversee multiple commercial janitorial accounts throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The District Manager is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and employee engagement across a portfolio of facilities. This position provides leadership to Area Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors, and frontline employees while maintaining high service standards and driving continuous operational improvement.


The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial janitorial operations, multi-site management, labor planning, client relationship management, and financial accountability.


Key Responsibilities Operations Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of multiple commercial janitorial accounts throughout the district.
  • Ensure all customer locations consistently meet company quality standards and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct routine site visits, inspections, and operational audits.
  • Develop action plans to improve service quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead account start-ups, transitions, and service expansions.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop Area Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors, and frontline staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and professional development.
  • Partner with Human Resources on employee relations, investigations, corrective actions, and performance management.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with property managers, facility managers, and key client stakeholders.
  • Conduct routine business reviews with customers.
  • Respond promptly to customer concerns and ensure timely resolution of service issues.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts.

Financial Management

  • Manage district labor budgets and operational expenses.
  • Monitor staffing levels, overtime, productivity, and payroll accuracy.
  • Review financial reports, cost sheets, and account profitability.
  • Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency while maintaining service quality.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
  • Promote a culture of workplace safety through regular inspections and training.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting across all assigned locations.

Operational Planning

  • Coordinate staffing plans for new business, seasonal needs, and emergency coverage.
  • Support disaster recovery, special projects, and customer requests.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Executive Leadership during new account implementations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent operational leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in commercial janitorial services.
  • Experience managing multiple facilities and large employee populations.
  • Strong knowledge of labor planning, scheduling, staffing, and operational budgeting.
  • Experience managing union and non-union workforces is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead remote field management teams.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and workforce management software.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Base Salary: $90,000–$110,000 annually (based on experience) Benefits
