Job Description
Job Description
An established estate planning firm in Garden City, New York is looking to add a paralegal to its small, close-knit team. The firm currently consists of one attorney and two paralegals, and the founding attorney — who has led the practice since 2006 — is looking for the right person to grow alongside the firm long-term.
This is a great opportunity for a paralegal who values quality of life, a manageable schedule, and a relaxed, low-drama practice, and who wants to build a long-term career within a stable, established firm.
About the Firm
This is a small, established estate planning practice built on long-term relationships — both with clients and with its team. The firm is selective about who it brings on, and is looking for someone who will be a genuine fit: collaborative, coachable, and invested in the success of the practice. In return, the firm is willing to invest meaningfully in the right person's long-term growth and compensation.
Responsibilities
- Assist with drafting and preparing estate planning documents including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
- Support probate matters, including document preparation and filings
- Help manage client files, correspondence, and case administration
- Communicate with clients in a professional, responsive manner
- Work closely with the firm's attorney and fellow paralegals to keep matters moving efficiently
- Take on increasing responsibility as trust and experience are established
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent relevant experience preferred
- Estate planning, probate, or trusts and estates experience strongly preferred
- Strong organizational, drafting, and communication skills
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach and the judgment to work independently as trust is built
- Willingness and ability to work in the office full-time (remote work — approximately one day per week — may become available after an initial training and trust-building period)
Work Environment & Schedule
- In-office role based in Garden City, NY
- Manageable, steady workload with a relaxed office atmosphere
- No litigation or court appearances, other than probate-related matters
- A supportive environment built around quality of life and long-term stability, not high-pressure demands
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary in the $50,000–$100,000 range, with placement based on experience
- Meaningful opportunities to grow total compensation over time as the right candidate takes on more responsibility and contributes to the firm's growth
- IRA with employer matching up to 3% of salary, available after an initial trial period
- Note: the firm does not currently offer a medical insurance plan
