Position Announcement


Join Utah Valley University and play a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and success of a broad range of student-athletes and student participants. In this position, you'll work directly with Intramural and Club Sports, Rodeo, Cheer and Dance, and the Green Man Group, providing expert athletic training services that help students perform at their best. From injury prevention and rehabilitation to emergency response and wellness education, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' athletic experiences while fostering a culture of safety and care.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Provides adequate medical assistance for all Competitive Sports student-athletes through clinic hours in the athletic training room. Provides Injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation to athletes. Manages return-to-play protocols, conducts baseline concussion testing, and maintains detailed, accurate medical records.
  • Provides adequate medical assistance to athletes through on-site game-day coverage.
  • Educates and trains student-athletes to promote health, safety, and well-being. Maintains athletic training certification and CPR/AED first Aid certification.
  • Maintains and tracks the athletic training room inventory and purchases equipment, supplies, and materials needed for department operations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.



Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications


Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of two years of experience related to the Summary of Duties; OR a combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years.
For Example:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related experience (4 years of education + 2 years of experience = 6 years).
  • OR an associate degree and four years of related experience.
  • OR six years of directly related experience.
  • OR another combination of related education and experience totaling six years.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification - Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Current CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification



Knowledge / Skills / Abilities


Knowledge


  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of athletic training, including conditioning, injury prevention, injury assessment, rehabilitation, and concussion management.
  • Knowledge and basic skills in manual therapy, modalities, therapeutic exercise techniques, and functional progression programs.
  • Knowledge of medical record management.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective working relationships with athletes and serve as a liaison among athletes.

Skills

  • Skills to perform clinical and sideline evaluation of injury, and to design and implement basic treatment programs.
  • Skills in applying protective wraps, tape, and bracing devices.

Abilities

  • Ability to effectively assess and evaluate injuries and their severity.
  • Ability to develop conditioning and rehabilitation programs and manage and treat injuries.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from various backgrounds.
