Workato Developer / Integration Developer

Position Overview

\n

We are seeking an experienced Workato Developer / Integration Developer to design, develop, implement, and support enterprise integrations using the Workato automation and integration platform.

\n

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building complex Workato recipes, integrating SaaS and enterprise applications, developing API-based integrations, and troubleshooting production integration issues. The individual will work closely with customers, business analysts, architects, application teams, and other integration developers to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable integration solutions.

This is a client-facing role that requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

\n

Workato Development & Integration

\n

\n
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise integrations using the Workato platform.

\n

• Build and configure Workato recipes using application connectors, APIs, webhooks, callable recipes, scheduled jobs, and event-driven integrations.

\n

• Develop integrations between cloud, SaaS, and enterprise applications such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Workday, ServiceNow, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Snowflake, databases, and other business applications.

\n

• Develop reusable recipes, components, frameworks, and integration patterns to improve scalability and maintainability.

\n

• Configure and manage connections, lookup tables, properties, environment variables, and other Workato platform components.

\n

• Implement real-time, near-real-time, scheduled, batch, and event-driven integration solutions.

\n

• Develop custom connectors using the Workato Connector SDK when standard connectors do not meet integration requirements.

\n

• Build API-based integrations using REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, OAuth 2.0, API keys, certificates, and other authentication mechanisms.

\n

\n

API & Data Integration

\n

\n
• Design and consume RESTful and SOAP APIs for application integration.

\n

• Work with JSON, XML, CSV, flat files, databases, and other structured data formats.

\n

• Perform complex data transformations, mappings, validations, filtering, enrichment, and orchestration.

\n

• Design integrations capable of processing large volumes of transactions efficiently.

\n

• Implement pagination, batching, rate-limit management, retries, asynchronous processing, and error-handling mechanisms.

\n

• Develop database integrations using SQL and Workato database connectors.

\n

• Work with webhooks and event-based APIs to implement real-time business processes.

\n

\n

Integration Architecture

\n

\n
• Participate in integration architecture and solution-design discussions.

\n

• Analyze business requirements and recommend appropriate Workato integration patterns.

\n

• Design integrations with consideration for scalability, performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.

\n

• Identify opportunities to create reusable integration assets and standardized frameworks.

\n

• Follow enterprise integration best practices for orchestration, API management, error handling, logging, monitoring, and exception management.

\n

• Work with architects to establish integration standards and governance.

\n

\n

Workato Platform Administration

\n

\n
• Support Workato workspace configuration and administration.

\n

• Manage development, test, staging, and production environments.

\n

• Assist with recipe lifecycle management and deployment processes.

\n

• Support Workato RecipeOps and automated deployment practices where applicable.

\n

• Maintain appropriate access controls, roles, permissions, and security configurations.

\n

• Monitor job execution, recipe performance, errors, and platform usage.

\n

• Participate in Workato governance and operational best practices.

\n

\n

Testing & Quality Assurance

\n

\n
• Develop unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end test scenarios.

\n

• Validate integrations against business and technical requirements.

\n

• Create appropriate test data and validate source-to-target data mappings.

\n

• Troubleshoot failed jobs, connector errors, API issues, authentication problems, and data-quality issues.

\n

• Perform root-cause analysis for production incidents.

\n

• Implement appropriate exception handling, retry mechanisms, notifications, and operational alerts.

\n

\n

Production Support

\n

\n
• Monitor production integrations and proactively identify potential issues.

\n

• Troubleshoot and resolve integration failures and performance problems.

\n

• Analyze Workato job history and application/API logs to identify root causes.

\n

• Coordinate with application vendors, infrastructure teams, and client technical teams when resolving integration issues.

\n

• Participate in production deployments, release validation, and post-deployment support.

\n

• Document recurring problems and implement permanent solutions where appropriate.

\n

\n

Client & Business Collaboration

\n

\n
• Work directly with clients to understand business processes and integration requirements.

\n

• Conduct technical discovery sessions with business and application teams.

\n

• Translate functional requirements into technical integration designs.

\n

• Explain integration approaches and technical considerations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

\n

• Participate in solution walkthroughs, demonstrations, design reviews, and customer meetings.

\n

• Coordinate with project managers, architects, developers, QA teams, and client representatives throughout the project lifecycle.

\n

• Provide technical recommendations and identify opportunities for additional automation and integration.

\n

\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

\n

• Hands-on experience developing integrations using Workato.

\n

• Strong understanding of enterprise application integration concepts and integration design patterns.

\n

• Experience creating and managing Workato recipes.

\n

• Experience working with Workato connectors and application APIs.

\n

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, SOAP web services, JSON, XML, and webhooks.

\n

• Experience with authentication mechanisms including OAuth 2.0, API keys, Basic Authentication, and certificate-based authentication.

\n

• Experience with SQL and relational databases.

\n

• Strong understanding of data transformation and mapping.

\n

• Experience implementing error handling, retries, notifications, logging, and monitoring.

\n

• Experience troubleshooting complex integration issues.

\n

• Understanding of software-development and integration lifecycle processes.

\n

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

\n

• Ability to independently manage assigned development tasks.

\n

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

\n

• Ability to work effectively with distributed teams and enterprise customers.

Discovery: Understand applications, business processes, data flows, interfaces, APIs, volumes, security requirements, and integration dependencies.

\n

Design: Create integration architecture, mappings, process flows, error-handling strategy, security approach, and technical design documentation.

\n

Development: Build Workato recipes, APIs, reusable components, transformations, custom connectors, and automation workflows.

\n

Testing: Perform developer testing, support system integration testing and user acceptance testing, and resolve identified defects.

\n

Deployment: Package and deploy solutions across environments and perform production validation.

\n

Support: Monitor integrations, troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement enhancements.
